***"Be careful," Kagome said to InuYasha, her voice low and serious.
"There could be more hair around," Kagome said.
InuYasha huffed in acknowledgement, his gaze already scanning the surrounding area for any signs of hair or Yura. He could smell no traces of the yōkai, but that didn't mean she wasn't lurking nearby. He released Kagome's hand, his senses on high alert as he stood protectively next to her, his eyes sharp and alert.
InuYasha had also tensed, his ears pricked up and alert. He nodded, agreeing with her warning.
"Yeah, you're right." InuYasha sniffed the air, his sensitive nose picking up any scents that were out of place. But he didn't detect any nearby threats.
"I don't smell anything right now," InuYasha said, his voice a low rumble. "But we should keep our guard up."
As they raced through the forest, Kagome clung tightly to InuYasha's back. Their feet pounded against the ground as they dodged trees and leaped over rocks. They soon caught sight of a bonfire up ahead, the flames illuminating the surrounding area.
InuYasha slowed down, his senses on high alert. He sniffed the air, picking up the scent of fire and... something else.
As they neared the bonfire, they came upon a gruesome sight: several men from the village, their beheaded bodies scattered around the area. The smell of blood and death filled the air. Both Kagome and InuYasha froze, horror and disgust etched on their faces.
"What the..." InuYasha's voice trailed off, his eyes wide as he took in the grotesque sight.
As they scanned the area, Kagome's eyes landed on a crossbow lying on the ground. Beside it was a cluster of arrows, each one slightly singed at the tips.
Kagome picked up the crossbow, her gaze shifting to InuYasha.
"Looks like someone was trying to stop Yura," Kagome muttered, her voice heavy with concern.
InuYasha stood silently beside her, his eyes moving between the gruesome scene and the crossbow in her hands. He nodded, his expression serious.
"Looks like it. But whoever it was clearly wasn't successful," InuYasha said gruffly, his voice filled with a mix of frustration and determination.
They both ran away from the scene and arrived at the top of the hill, InuYasha and Kagome hid in the branches of a sturdy tree. Kagome, her grip tight on the crossbow, took aim at Yura, who was dancing erratically across the field below, her hair whipping around her face.
InuYasha watched, tension in his every muscle. He was prepared for anything, his body coiled like a spring, ready to pounce if necessary.
As Yura's hair strands shot out at them like deadly whips, Kagome had to rely on her own vision to help them dodge. She called out instructions to InuYasha.
"Left! No, your other left! Duck!" Kagome barked orders as quickly as possible, both of them relying on each other's abilities to stay alive.
Kagome's heart was pounding in her chest as she yelled directions to InuYasha, her voice laced with desperation.
"Watch out! To the right, InuYasha! No, duck! No, jump now!" Kagome continued.
InuYasha moved in quick, coordinated motions, relying on Kagome's instructions to avoid the hair strands. His blindspots were a disadvantage in their current situation, but Kagome's guidance helped to compensate for them.
