Brakevans are essential to goods trains. On loose coupling trains, they are used to carry the guard, and in case the train get separated from the engine. And the trucks delight in this mischief.

Toad is a Great Western Brakevan who was very faithful to Oliver the Great Western Engine. Ever since he stood by him, they were very close friends, and made sure the journeys were smooth and safe.

Bradford is a 20-ton LMS Brakevan, who is very strict and follows the rules, a bit too literal. While he means good, he can be a bit much.
One day, Bradford was resting, when Bear came into the yard, looking very tired out. After speaking with the yard manager, he rolled to the fuel pump, and right next to Bradford.
"You look tired Bear," said Bradford, "the trucks giving you trouble?"
"Yeah," said Bear, "Real troublesome. Just came from the mainland. Delight in all sorts of delays."
"Well then, why don't I join you?" asked Bradford, "I'm not scheduled for another train any time soon."
"Alright," said Bear, "But only if you don't take the rules way TOO literal."
Bear then rolled off, putting Bradford at the back of his train.
"ALRIGHT YOU LOT!!" cried Bradford, "I'M IN CHARGE HERE!! I EXPECT NO BUMPING OR TRICKS ON THIS TRIP!!"
