Cas was overwhelmed. He had so much guilt and self-blame. He kept on thinking of his actions. His past and what he had done. The angels that he had killed, rebelling against heaven, hurting people whenever Rowena put that dog attak spell against him, saying yes to Lucifer and so so much more.
Becuse of this, he started isolating himself, and always wanting to be alone. He barely talked to Sam or Dean or anybody really.
But eventually, he started talking again. He started talking to Sam first, sense he was a little more empathetic to mental health topics. He just broke down and started absolutely sobbing. He just needed a shoulder to cry on. And that shoulder was Sam. He reassured him the best that he could. He kept on teling him that a lot of the things that he did were not his fault, and it was for the greater good. He knew how much he cared for him and Dean.
And with time, he healed.
