"So you really punched him? God I wish I was there to see the look on that pricks face." Marlene declared and Lily nodded her head in agreement.
We were getting ready for the Halloween party and chatting about nonsense. I'd decided that I was going to just let loose tonight and forget about all my worries, I hoped Gideon Prewett would be there to help with that. Gideon and I always found each other at parties, and so did our lips. I still didn't know what I was going to wear as I didn't own many party clothes and part of me regretted not buying a costume. Lily was going as Little Red Riding Hood from a muggle fairytale that her parents used to read to her when she was little. Marlene was applying fake blood under her red-painted lips, she was going as a vampire and had even purchased some fake fangs from Zonkos Joke Shop. Marlene never did anything half-arsed.
"You guys look amazing," I complimented, smiling at them both, Lily thanked me and Marlene gave me a cheesy grin that showed off her new fangs and winked at me. I felt a little like the odd one out.
"So, I may or may not have gotten you a costume just in case you change your mind." Marlene walked over to her chest of draws and pulled out a beautiful, and very revealing, pirate costume. It was a short, white, flowy dress with a brown corset over the top and a pair of fishnet tights.
"Wow, Marls, this is gorgeous but I'm not sure," I said, feeling wary at the thought of wearing something so out-there.
"At least try it on, Soph, I'm sure you'll look amazing." Lily said from her desk where she was applying some blush.
I ran my hand over the fabric and contemplated it, "Okay, just for you guys," I said, teasingly.
In the bathroom, I looked over myself in the mirror. The costume did great things for my body shape. The corset hugged my figure and showed the perfect amount of cleavage while the dress hung around the middle of my thighs. Lily had given me a bandana as well, and I put it on as I stepped out of the bathroom. The girls gasped and squealed in delight and I gave them a spin.
"Okay, you look beautiful!" Lily gushed, beaming at me supportively. She knew I struggled with the way I looked and always supported me whenever she could.
"Sophia, if you don't wear that then I will." Marlene teased.
"Isn't it a bit... much?" I gestured to myself.
"Personally, I think it's not enough," Marlene said, wiggling her eyebrows, "Come on, Soph, just this once have some fun, don't worry everybody will be drooling over you."
I thought about it, maybe I should stop fretting over myself and enjoy tonight.
"Okay," I said, running a hand over my outfit, "I'll wear it."
The girls cheered and then both started curling my hair to complete the 'look'. While they were bickering over Merlin knows what, I thought about how this party would go. The marauders would surely be dressing up and causing all sorts of trouble. I didn't go to many parties and when I did, an hour or two in Remus and I would be in the corner chatting away like grandmothers.

We were all finally ready, and slightly late. We rushed down the stairs and half way down I could hear the sound of the music and chatter hit me, there must be a lot of people. We reached the end of the stairs and the Common Room was filled with people, some dancing, some drinking, some making out with each other. I spotted the Marauders at the drinks table and linked arms with Lily and Marlene to walk over to them.
"Hello, darlings," Marlene said, grabbing their attention.
"Hello ladies, you look stunning, Lily." James immediately said with a cheeky grin on his face. He was dressed in all black with skeleton makeup on his face and a scythe at his side. The Grim Reaper, I realised.
