After a very long train ride of Marlene and Lily bickering about Merlin knows what, we finally arrived at the place I call home, Hogwarts.
The three of us entered the Great Hall and sat down in our seats.
I couldn't help but admire everything around me. The stunning night sky on the ceiling, the floating candles and the happy students catching up with their friends.
It felt good to be back.
We all watched the first years get sorted into their houses and cheered whenever one was sorted into Gryffindor. Dumbledore gave his annual speech and after what felt like forever we finally tucked into our food.
I peered over to the marauders, who were on the other side of the table, to see James and Sirius trying to scare a scrawny looking, little first year boy. I could just about make out what they were saying.
"So do you know how punishments work here at Hogwarts?" Sirius started.
The first year Gryffindor shook his head nervously.
"So if you break a rule, McGonagall locks you in the dungeon for at least an hour." James said, smiling evilly.
The poor first years' eyes widened.
"And you know what's in the dungeons?" Sirius questioned, grinning cheekily.
"Trolls." James whispered in his ear for dramatic effect.
The boy gasped and immediately got up and ran away to go and warn his friends.
Black and Potter both laughed and high fived each other.
"Nice one guys." Peter added, admiring his two mischievous friends.
I never understood why they both had to be such assholes. I'd have to go and find that first year tomorrow and make sure he's alright.
I suddenly noticed that Sirius had caught me looking at him. He winked at me and I just replied with a middle finger.
Beside me Marlene was scoffing down some chicken very loudly which had attracted the attention of some of the Gryffindors nearby.
"That's gross, Marls." Lily stated with a look of disgust.
"I don't care." Marlene replied with a sarcastic smile on her face and carried on as she was.
Lily shook her head and gave her a disapproving look.
I chuckled at the both of them. They're friendship was like a middle aged mother and her rebellious teenage daughter.
When we got back to the common room we all checked our timetables.
"Great! History of Magic with the Slytherins first thing tomorrow. Absolutely fabulous." I complained, sighing dramatically.
What a great way to start the year. With a bunch of future death eaters. Now I know that not all of them are bad. In fact, I have a few Slytherin friends but it was Lucius Malfoy and his gang that I was not looking forward to seeing.
"Hey, I'm in that class too don't worry." said Lily.
"So I'm on my own in Herbology with the Hufflefluffs?" sighed Marlene, screwing up her time table and throwing it behind her.
"Don't be littering now, Marlene." came the voice of James Potter with Sirius, Remus and Peter following behind as he walked over to the sofa where we were sat.
"Very sorry, James," Marlene replied sarcastically, obviously still annoyed about being in class on her own tomorrow.
"My Lily-Flower, how are you today my love?" James asked, staring at Lily like she was the latest broomstick.
"Not good now that you're here." she remarked, giving him a dirty look.
"Be nice to poor Jamesy" Sirius spoke up, jumping over the sofa and sitting next to me.
Three interactions with Sirius Black in one day? Seriously? (No pun intended)
"Hello, darling." Sirius grinned at me, running a hand through his long, dark hair.
I really did not have time or energy to deal with him right now.
"Shove off, Black." I said, moving away from him and closer to where James was telling Lily how amazing she looked today.
"How about... No." he declared, moving up to me again.
"I swear to Merlin, Black I will shove your wand so far up your-"
"Play nice, children." said Remus calmly, not even looking up from the book he was reading.
Remus was so used to trying to keep me from punching Black in the face now that it was so casual to him now. I felt bad that he had to deal with Black every single fucking day.
"Yeah, play nice Parker." Sirius added smirking.
Peter chuckled at his comment and when I peered over at him he looked away, blushing.
Peter was very strange. He hardly ever spoke and whenever he did it was usually trying to please James or Sirius. I could tell he wasn't the brightest of the bunch but he seemed like a sweet boy.
"Wipe that grin off your face, Black." I retorted, to which he just shot me a smirk.
I don't understand why Sirius Black has to be so infuriating. Could he not just get on with his life without annoying me? No, apparently not.
Getting more and more frustrated with James' love confessions, Lily got up from her armchair and said,
"I'm going to the dorm, you guys coming?""Yes please." I said, immediately standing up before Black could do anything to stop me.
"Me too." said Marls standing up and following Lily up the stairs.
"Good night, Rem." I said, ruffling his hair as I walked past.
He quickly tried to sort his messy hair out and mumbled a grumpy, "Night."
I chuckled at him fondly and continued walking.
"Good night, Gorgeous." Black called out as I was walking up the stairs, I looked back and rolled my eyes at him, not giving him the satisfaction of a real reply.
I got dressed into my pyjamas and quickly fell asleep after a tiring first day.
