Today was my... what should I call it, a date?Anyways, date or not, I was absolutely shitting myself.
I had been up since five in the morning. I had showered, curled my long, dark hair and put on some light make up. I was overthinking everything. What if he found me annoying? What if this was all just a prank and his friend dared him to ask me out? What if I get something stuck in my teeth?
I sighed at myself and looked at the clock. It was 7:30, breakfast started at 8 so I had half an hour. 10 minutes later Lily and Marlene and woke up. They sat me down and gave me a peptalk.
Marlene was sat at our shared desk straightening her long, blonde hair and Lily was pacing around the room while I sat on the edge of her bed.
"You are going to be fine, you look gorgeous, just be your amazing, wonderful self," Lily comforted, sitting herself next to me and slinging her arm around my shoulder.
I smiled at her admirably. She always knew the right thing to say. She was the type of friend to drop everything when you're upset to come and help you.
"I'm with Lily," Marlene assured while touching up her makeup, "You look fucking sexy, Soph."
I couldn't help but stare at Marlene for a second, she was so breathtakingly gorgeous. She had fair skin, almost white blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Marlene McKinnon was utterly flawless and I couldn't help but feel a slight tinge of jealousy at that.
I thanked them both, and when it got to 8 o'clock, we will walk down to the Great Hall. We stopped outside the entrance, and Lily fixed my hair while Marlene sprayed me with some of her perfume. I felt like their life-sized doll.
They stepped back, and Marlene clutched onto Lily, and pretended to cry while saying, "Our baby is all grown up."
Lily caught on to what she was doing and stroked Marlene's hair.
"I know, but we have to let her go, Honey." She sniffled, putting on her best performance.
"Shut up," I scoffed and shook my head at them, secretly trying not to laugh as I walked off.
I heard them both erupt into giggles behind me. Well, I'm glad they find themselves amusing.
I walked into the Great Hall and looked around to see Jack waving me over to where he was sat. I took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, and then sat in the spare seat next to him.
Some Ravenclaws around us were staring at us curiously. They were a group of around five boys and they were all shouting remarks teasingly at Jack.
"Morning." He smiled at me, ignoring the shouts from behind him and grabbing a piece of jam toast.
"Hi." I smiled back, I had butterflies in my stomach even just being around him.
He stared at me for a second, not saying anything, just staring into my eyes. I could feel my face go red, exposing the nervousness that he made me feel.
"What do you have first period?" He asked me, taking a large bite out of his toast.
"Uhh, History of Magic, I think," I replied, feeling a little less happy remembering that I have to spend a whole hour in a room with Lucius Malfoy, Severus Snape and the rest of their gang.
"Ooh, I love History of Magic, I find it really quite fascinating learning what has happened before us."
Typical Ravenclaw. Before I had come to Hogwarts I had really thought that I would be sorted into Ravenclaw. Being a muggle born, when I got my letter from Hogwarts I immediately went to Diagon Alley and bought all my books needed so that when I got to Hogwarts I would be prepared for when I got there. I read about the Hogwarts houses and what traits each of them had. I was too nice for Slytherin, too stubborn for Hufflepuff and wasn't brave enough for Gryffindor so Ravenclaw had to be the only option, right? I was very wrong apparently.
