Mornings. They are my least favourite thing. Unfortunately, my lovely, red-headed dorm-mate insists getting up at the crack of dawn and waking me up with her.

She doesn't dare to wake up Marls though. No body would ever dare to disturb Marlene McKinnons' precious sleep. Last time Lily woke her up, she got a book thrown at her head.

"Come on Soph, GET UP!" Lily demanded, huffing and puffing, getting frustrated with me not complying.

"No, too early," I mumbled, still half asleep, pulling the covers over my head.

Suddenly, my duvet was ripped away from me. I looked up to see Lily standing there, already fully dressed, with her wand in her hand and my floating duvet beside her, a smug smile on her freckled face.

"I hate you," I muttered under my breath, sitting up and stretching, sleepily.

"Love you too," She said, happily applying some lip gloss.

After having taken around ten minutes to motivate myself, I finally got up and dressed into my Gryffindor robes .

When Marlene finally woke up we all walked down to the Great Hall together. I grabbed some coffee and toast while trying not to fall asleep again.

I saw that Remus had entered the hall, looking for his friends, and once realising they weren't there he looked over at me. I waved him over, hoping to catch up with him, without the rest of his irritating gang around.

"Good morning, ladies," he greeted, smiling.

"Where's the rest of your gang?" I questioned, it was weird to see them apart.

"I'm not quite sure actually, have you seen them?" Remus asked, looking around the Great Hall, double checking that he hadn't missed them.

"Are we your back-up friends, Remus?" Marlene teased, smirking at him.

"No, no of course you not, you guys are my favourites," he teased back, stealing the uneaten piece of toast from my hand and taking a rather large bite.

"Hey!" I complained, but he just ignored me and carried on eating it.

I didn't have the energy to protest any further.

I looked up at Remus as he was chatting to Marlene and noticed how he had a new scar that ran down from his check and down to his neck. I've never asked Remus about his scars but as time has gone on, I've realised that he just keeps gaining more. In all honesty, I'm worried about him. If more kept appearing, I would have to say something about it. Once in a while he would always be in the hospital wing, he would never let me visit though and he would never talk about it.

Opposite me, Lily was scribbling furiously into her note book, distracting me from my thoughts.

"How are you so functional this early in the morning?" Marlene asked her while yawning.

"The first day back at school is always so exciting, I have to be prepared," Lily explained, still writing in her book.

Sometimes I was I could be like Lily, she always had a positive attitude towards everything. Apart from James Potter, that is.

"I agree, I enjoy the first day back," nodded Remus, taking another bite out of my toast.

"Weirdos," I stated, looking at these two crazy people.

"Sophia, aren't you like top of most your classes? I thought you loved school," Marlene questioned, raising her eyebrow.

"Yes, but that's because I like the feeling of success, not the actual lessons," I said and heard Remus chuckle quietly beside me.
