"Ems! Wake up, you sleepy head," Katie quipped from beside me. Letting out a groan, I pulled the covers above my head, trying to fall back asleep.
"My mums making breakfast," Katie sang, and that got me up almost immediately. "Oh, that's what gets you up? Food?"
"Yep," I grinned, pecking her lips before making my way out of her room. Katie rolled her eyes at me before following me down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Hey Ella," she looked like she had just rolled out of bed, but I knew I looked the same. I always enjoyed spending the night at Katie's because a nice breakfast always followed.
"Emely, how kind of you to join us." Sharon quipped, making Katie snicker from beside me.
"I was sleepy, okay?" I defended myself with not much of an argument.
"Are you excited about today?" Ella asked from beside Katie. Today we'd both be starting our first ever matches with Raheny United; it was the start of something great. I just had a gut feeling that our future would be filled with football, and I couldn't wait.
"Yes, but also I'm a little nervous." I mumbled, feeling Katie's arm wrap around my waist. "You'll do amazing." She whispered, sending a shiver down my spine.
"I'm sure both of you will play amazing; either way, I'm proud of you both." Sharon gave us a warm smile, which helped ease my nerves slightly.
Katie started the match at left back while I started in centreback, both of us rather aggressive defenders. One of the many things we happened to have in common.
Late in the first half, we won a corner; almost certain that this would be the last action, our captain gave us instructions for a certain set-up. Katie stood just outside the box, ready to blast the ball into the net if it popped out. I was standing near the back post, but my run would lead me more towards the middle in front of the keeper.
The corner taker raised both hands, signalling near post, and all hell broke loose; flashes of bodies rushed for the ball. Unfortunately, the keeper got a punch on it, sending it just outside the box. But it fell to Katie's left foot, and she was wide open.
Half a second later, the ball was in the back of the net, and I was sprinting towards Katie. "Yes Katie!" I shouted, tackling her into a hug as our teammates surrounded us. "You and your bloody left foot!" She laughed as we jogged back to our starting positions to kickoff once more.
Halftime followed soon, which was then followed by an intense second half, but neither team could finish their chances. Meaning Katie's banger had scored the winning goal in her ever start.
I knew it was a dream come true for her, and I couldn't be more proud of my girl.

"Is your mum picking us up from training?" Katie asked as we changed out of our boots. Training had been long and hard; both of us were utterly exhausted.
"No, I think my dads getting us. My mom's not home yet, I don't think." My mum had been travelling a lot for work recently, more so to Switzerland, where her company headquarters were. I'd only ever been once, but I loved it. I told Katie it's where I wanted to grow old; she gave me a funny look and proceeded to tell me I was only 15, but that didn't mean I wasn't thinking about my future.
"Better not make him wait then," Katie quipped, knowing my dad was rather impatient sometimes. Yet we all loved him dearly. Feeling bold, I quickly caught Katie's arm before she could exit the room. It was only us left; everyone else had already gone home for the day.
