Truth or Dare

It had started as a simple night of unwinding. The eighth years, fresh from a grueling week of assignments and exams, had gathered in the Gryffindor common room to blow off some steam. Most of the house had already gone to bed, leaving behind only a small group of students from all houses who had returned for the extra year after the war.

Harry had been dragged into the impromptu gathering by Hermione and Ron, who insisted he "needed to relax for once." They weren't wrong-he'd been feeling restless lately, his mind buzzing with thoughts he couldn't quite shake off. Thoughts that increasingly involved a certain blond-haired Slytherin sitting across the room, looking entirely too comfortable.

Draco Malfoy.

Since the start of their eighth year, things had been... different between them. There was no animosity anymore. No sharp words or bitter glances. Instead, there was an awkward truce that had slowly turned into something almost resembling friendship. They weren't close-yet-but they were no longer enemies. And lately, Harry had found himself paying far too much attention to Draco. His movements, his words, even the way he smiled (though it was rare) had started to occupy Harry's thoughts more than he cared to admit.

So when Seamus had suggested a game of Truth or Dare to liven up the evening, Harry's stomach had twisted in both anticipation and dread. He knew how these things went. Someone would eventually be dared to do something embarrassing or spill a secret they'd been hiding, and if Draco was involved... well, Harry wasn't sure how he'd handle it.

"Alright, everyone ready?" Seamus grinned mischievously, sitting in the center of the group that had gathered on the rug by the fire. He glanced around at the circle of students: Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dean, Ginny, Blaise, Luna, and Draco, who sat slightly apart from the others, looking a bit skeptical but not uninterested.

"I can't believe we're actually doing this," Draco muttered, crossing his arms, though there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.

"Oh, come on, Malfoy," Ginny said with a grin. "It'll be fun. You're not scared, are you?"

Draco raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a smirk. "Of course not. I just find it hard to believe this is how Gryffindors entertain themselves."

"Well," Ron interjected with a laugh, "you're here now, so you'd better get used to it."

Seamus clapped his hands together. "Alright then, I'll go first. Dean, truth or dare?"

Dean grinned. "Dare."

Seamus didn't hesitate. "I dare you to drink that disgusting potion Slughorn left in the corner after last week's class."

Dean made a face but got up, accepted the challenge, and took a swig of the old potion. The group roared with laughter as Dean coughed and gagged dramatically, though he seemed mostly unharmed.

The game progressed with lighthearted dares and truths-Hermione was dared to recite her favorite potion recipe backward, Ron admitted he had once nicked one of Fred and George's joke products and accidentally turned his hair pink, and Ginny dared Blaise to let Luna braid his hair. It was all in good fun, and for a while, Harry relaxed, enjoying the casual banter.

But then the bottle pointed toward Harry.

Seamus grinned wickedly. "Alright, Harry, truth or dare?"

Harry hesitated. He wasn't particularly eager to reveal any deep secrets, especially with Draco watching him, but a dare from Seamus could be even worse. After a brief internal debate, he sighed. "Truth."

"Boring!" Ron teased, but Seamus waved him off with a smirk.

"Alright, Potter, let's see..." Seamus tapped his chin thoughtfully. Then, with a devilish grin, he asked, "Is it true that you fancy someone in this room?"
