Someone, going to guess Amara, gave Leo my phone number at some point soon after that party. It had somehow slipped my mind when I was leaving, and I guess his too. But I was surprised to see a message soon after from an unknown number expressing how lovely it was to meet me and hoping we could hangout again soon.
Leo now texts me everyday. At least once. He says his schedule is very busy, and I know mine is too, but I kind of like getting home from school or waking up in the morning and seeing this one text from Leo asking how I was doing. He was really cool, and I honestly thought I liked him. But every time I would think about liking him, the crazy ex boyfriend would pop into my head and I would think twice about it. I don't need to change my phone number and all my contact information again.
That would be a nightmare.
There is a lot of stuff I have to work through, so I am entertaining the idea of Leo and me as friends, but trying my best not to develop a crush on him. Even though he is super kind and caring and we share a lot of the same interests already in the brief conversations we have had.
It was a couple weeks after we met, and his random texts were already part of my day. Today is Friday and it is nice outside and I kind of wanted to get out and enjoy the weather, but I didn't have a clue what to do once I got out there. Roxy was out with Scott and Amara was out with Jake.
I am now the ultimate fifth wheel, which I can blame Kit for.
Eventually I decided to get out of my comfy pj's and head down to the bookstore. Maybe I can find something that will entertain me for the weekend. It's not quite midterms yet, so I still have some time before I get stressed and go full study mode on the weekends. I got changed into a skirt and turtleneck proper autumn combo and headed out in search of something to grab my interest.
I ended up buying a few books, I honestly told myself to leave the store before I found another book and spent all of my money. I ended up going to a small unknown coffee shop with some French name that I didn't know. I ordered myself a tea and sat in the back as I read one of the books I had bought.
I was into the middle of chapter three when some random person sat across from me. I looked up from my book and my eyes brows furrowed, "do you just sit with random people all the time?"
He chuckled, "technically I know you." I did recognize him, even though he was wearing a toque and a mask. It looked like he was trying to hide.
I rolled my eyes and closed my book, "really?" He was lucky I wasn't that far in and annoyed that he interrupted my reading time.
He smiled widely at me, "if I did that, I'd get mobbed!"
I grew confused. Why would he get mobbed if he just sat with some random person? "What?"
Just after I spoke there was a small crowd of girls screaming run past the little cafe and Leo grimaced as they ran past.
I looked at him with my mouth slightly ajar and my eyebrows raised.
"I may or may not have left one of my buddies to fend for themselves out there." Leo blinked and looked around, "I just jumped in here and I am very excited that you also happened to be here."
I was still so confused. I had no idea what he was talking about anymore. He looked a little shaken, still glancing outside as if one of the screaming girls might walk right in and discover him. I glanced outside, "you're running from a mob of girls because...?" I trailed off, hoping he would finish the sentence.
He smiled. Yes, he actually smiled. "Yes, and I feel like I should explain that to you before you get the wrong idea."
"Okay," I said slowly, "I didn't realize there was something to explain."
