For the next hour, I was over the moon. One aspect of my life was getting better. I could go online and not get bullied. (I had checked Facebook and Instagram soon after Leo left and Jasmine and Dena had also deleted their accounts there.) I was almost tempted to create myself a new username so it would be harder to find me when they came back, but this was a win for me, and I decided not to.
Roxy and I went back home and I changed into more comfortable clothes before sitting with my laptop in the living room. Roxy decided to do some tidying in the kitchen.
"Do you think if I google Leo, it's weird?" I asked out loud. "I just want to know the name of his friends who are in the band with him."
Roxy hummed about it, "I can Google the band and tell you their names. It's weird that they never introduced themselves. They just kind of assume we would know who they are."
I nodded, "it's weird right."
"Give me one minute," Roxy finished what she was doing then came to sit across from me.
She focused on her phone for a few seconds, and then her face went from the scrunched focus directly into surprise. She looked up at me and then back at her phone.
I raised my eyebrow, "everything okay?"
Her mouth opened and closed a few times, "if you were in the news, would you want to know?"
My face fell, "what why?"
"You are... in the news," she said quietly.
I couldn't move, "is it bad? You sitting there makes me feel like its bad."
Roxy slowly shook her head, "I don't think its bad. It's just you. And me."
I blinked, "why? What did we do?"
She slowly turned around the phone to face me and I leant forward to see better. It was a picture of us doing the shots earlier today. With Leo's friend. I read the caption which said, "The Five's Levi Banks Seen Having a Celebratory Shot With New Girl?"
My first thought was, ah so his name is Levi.
My second thought was, I'm not dating Levi!
I grabbed the article and read the whole thing so fast I had to go back and read it again.
Levi Banks, member of The Five was seen at a local pub having a shot to celebrate. Pictured above are two mystery girls, one of which Levi got up close and personal with. New girlfriend? What happened to Emily?
I stopped reading there and handed the phone back to Roxy. I took out my phone and with very deep breaths I opened my Instagram and waited. Nothing happened. I went to Twitter next. Nothing happened again.
Very slowly I looked up at Roxy, "they don't know it's us."
Roxy slowly nodded, "I have to call Scott." She quickly got up and went to her room.
I looked at my phone and had an urge to call Leo. Why would I call him though? We weren't dating. No, but it was kind of his fault I was in the news, wasn't it?
I settled on a text message, typing and retyping it a few times before hitting send.
Hey! Awkward text but there is a picture of me in the news? I'm kind of freaking out.
I went to my settings and changed all my socials to no notifications after that, just in case. I did not want to see anything if it came through. then I put my phone down on our coffee table, face up, and watched it.
I waited five minutes, and Roxy came back from her call. She seemed more relaxed now, "Scott and I are all good."
I nodded to acknowledge what she said. Roxy fell onto the couch beside me. "Let's turn on some Brooklyn 99, because its a great comfort show, and tonight I'll make dinner."
