Leo was true to his word and texted me when he woke up, but by that point I was already finished with my two classes for the day and was on the way to meet up with Roxy for a study coffee. He apparently woke up late for his day too because a bunch of words were spelt incorrectly and I had to take a couple of minutes deciphering that he was late to a rehearsal of some sort.
I waited to reply after I found Roxy and sat down with a coffee, saying good morning, telling him what I was doing, and then wishing him luck at rehearsal.
Roxy gave me a funny look as I texted. "You were home late."
I looked up and narrowed my eyes at her, "don't even go there. Nothing is happening."
Roxy raised one eyebrow, "oh sure."
I frowned and set my phone down, "what are you working on today?"
Roxy noticed the sudden topic change. I wasn't even going to try to explain to her what was going on with me and Leo because I was just as confused. So I wasn't even going to talk to my best friend about it. I needed to figure it out for myself.
"Oh you know, regular medical stuff that will go right over your head," Roxy said and pointed down at her textbook. "How about you, anything exciting to work on?"
I nodded, "fair enough. I don't have a lot because midterms are next week so I'm just going to write."
Roxy grinned, "oh good! You haven't had much time to do that recently."
I nodded and pulled out my laptop. The first thing I really wanted to do was write another post for advice. Last time it helped calm me down, getting all of that out there. I started that post first.
Dear Anyone,
So, we had dinner - which he made from scratch. We talked for hours. He even watched my favourite comfort movie. It wasn't even a date, we called it a 'get to know each other as friends hangout.' Why do I like him even more now?
I told him glimpses of the bad stuff in my life and he didn't run away. He actually was supportive. I don't know what to do with that information. My brain can't process it. I don't deserve to have someone nice to me, let alone that nice.
Do I continue? Should I tell him everything? I feel like it will make him run away, but I also don't want to lose him. Even if we only ever are friends and I can only have a crush on him from a distance.
Love,
Sugar-Free
I posted it before I could change my mind and then quickly switched over to my stories to work on. Roxy and I worked in silence for a couple of hours until she sighed and snapped me out of my creative space. "Are you hungry? I'm hungry."
I took a second to come out of my own brain and focus on my body. My drink had gone cold and I hadn't drank much of it. Then my stomach growled, "I could eat," I told her, "just let me finish this thought."
I wrote two more paragraphs then a bullet point where I wanted the scene to continue going for myself when I came back then triple saved it all and put away my computer.
"Do you want to go home or go somewhere else?" I asked Roxy.
"I'd like to go somewhere else," she sighed, "Scott was going to meet up but now he has a meeting over lunch."
I nodded, "what are you feeling like?"
"Pub," Roxy said immediately and we both got up to leave at the same time. I chugged my now cold drink and then put the mug on the returns table. Roxy held the door open for me as we left the cafe and started a walk down the street to find a pub to eat at. We didn't have any 'usual haunts' as Amara called them. We just found a place that looked interesting most of the time and sometimes we'd see one that we remembered to be good and went back.
