I had to sit through the whole movie beside Leo again. It was so awkward for me. I bet he was all happy and quite pleased with himself, but I could say that I did not feel the same way. When the end credits rolled down the screen, I rushed to start cleaning up just to get away from him. As I brought some bowls into the kitchen, Amara stopped me with a large yawn, "why don't you just clean up tomorrow?"
I shrugged, "I don't want to have to do it tomorrow. I would rather just get it over and done with." I walked past her and into the kitchen. As I put some of the things away, someone else entered the kitchen. I inwardly groaned when I glanced over and saw Leo. I bet Amara put him up to this. He looked very tired and I was very awake.
"Don't worry, I've got this," I told him.
He looked at me confused for a second but when I gestured for him to sit rather than help, he sat at the island. "So, um..." Leo started to talk and I forced myself to turn and smile at him. This was a lot harder than it looked. "You are acting a lot different than yesterday."
I froze and gave a little her nervous laugh, "yeah."
I knew I was acting super weird, and now that he was here in my space and I was realizing that I might actually like him.
"We are trying to be friends, right?" Leo asked hesitantly.
I gave him a small smile, "yes, friends for sure."
He watched me for a long moment, "I feel like you Googled me."
I blinked, "I did not," then I pulled out my phone, "would you like me to?"
"No!" he sprung at me, snatching my phone. "I will tell you please."
I crossed my arms over my chest, "give me my phone back."
He sighed, "if you're not going to behave before dinner tomorrow, I'm going to hold onto your phone until I tell you."
I frowned, "no way!"
He frowned back at me, "I don't believe you," then he stuck out his tongue.
I gasped, "so rude!"
Leo grinned, "we're going to have this conversation tonight then!"
I frowned at him again, "only if you don't fall asleep first."
"Oh, I am wide awake now!" He wiggled his eyebrows a bit and I scoffed.
I walked back out to the living room and found that most people had left or fallen asleep already. Leo leaned over to one of his friends and whispered to them while I went back to my room. I did not want to have a serious conversation out in the open where someone could listen in at any part.
I fell back onto my bed, turning on just my bedside lamp and waiting. Leo followed pretty soon after, closing the door behind him and then looking at me a little awkwardly.
I laughed and patted the bed beside me, "might as well join me."
He sat on the bed then laid down next to me so we were both on our backs, looking at the ceiling. "Where to even start," he sighed and I turned my head to look at him.
"You're in a band with Kit?" I suggested.
He turned to look at me. Our faces were about two feet apart but he might as well have been two inches away with how much my stomach butterflies kicked up.
Why was I nervous?
"Technically, Kit works for my band," Leo explained. "My band is The Five. With the other guys in there. Except we're what one might call a boy band. And Kit and the others play our music live for us."
