That Monday, I was equally disappointed not to have heard from work, but we were called to the courthouse to get my restraining order finally. Leo's security picked us up and I felt a little weird dressing up for this excision. Leo and I were both in black dress pants and he had a dark grey button up while I had a dark green blouse. We almost matched.
On the way there, I was shaking I was so nervous and Leo held onto me the whole way for reassurance. When the car pulled up, it was even worse. There were cameras everywhere.
Leo sighed, "I am so sorry."
"It's okay," I tried to stop shaking. "We knew this was going to happen."
"Just keep your head down and I will pull you in." Leo told me. The door to our seat opened by one of the security guys. Leo stepped out and the sound became deafening.
I winced, and then cleared my face and grabbed the hand that he held out for me. Leo pulled me out and I kept my face pointed at Leo's shoes. They were lovely shoes.
I couldn't help it, I let my hair fall in front of my face and used my free hand to block my eyes so I couldn't see anyone else. I could hear them, they were yelling at me to look at them, but I didn't want to look so I covered my eyes and stared down at Leo's shoes as he pulled me along.
We went up the steps and then through some giant doors where there was even more security. I had to give my purse up for them to look through and walk through a metal detector. Leo had to empty his pockets and do the same. So did the security that came with us who made the security in the building look annoyed.
They brought us to a small room in the back of the building to wait for a judge and the police officer who was filing it. The lawyer Leo had was already waiting for us. It didn't take long and then the conversation started.
The whole thing took about an hour, and then Leo and I both sighed some papers and we were able to leave. The restraining order was in affect and Ethan was not able to go anywhere near either of us for the next five years. Then we can renew it if needed.
I felt a weight lift off my shoulders, but then we went with the lawyer to a different office to have a conversation. "I know there are some other people online that don't like Marie. I've done some investigating and I need to know who else we should watch out for that are real threats. Anymore ex-boyfriends or anything like that."
I frowned at her, "my parents, and my old friends."
Leo frowned, "a few old friends."
The lawyer wasn't even phased, "please write down their names."
I gave her the list, my mother, my father, Dena, Jasmine, and Amara. Which Leo suggested I add. I didn't want to, I haven't seen her since the party incident, but it was better to be on the lookout. I did not want to be blindsided again by another fist flying at Leo or me.
The lawyer nodded at the list, "okay awesome, they were also on my list."
I frowned at that, not a good sign.
We did a couple other things and then ventured back outside. I couldn't stop myself, I covered my face again. This was a big win, but the cameras flashing and the rude yelling was not helping.
Leo convinced the security who was driving to go through a driver through on the way home and get us lunch. When we finished eating at home, we both changed into pj's and spent the rest of the day cuddled in bed.
*~*~*~*
It took me till that Friday to sit back at the computer. Almost through three whole weeks of living at Leo's and not working.
