I wanted to scream by the time 6PM rolled around.
All day I tried to get things done. I tried to write something, or bake cookies, I even tried to get ahead of my schoolwork. After all of those failed to hold my attention, I turned on the TV to watch something and I scrolled for an hour without picking anything. So after that I gave myself a spa day, I waxed my legs and did a face mask, I painted my nails on both my fingers and toes, and I ended up doing my makeup three hours early.
After that, I went through my whole closet. Trying to figure out what would be a good outfit to wear to Leo's house. I changed which jeans I wanted to wear four times and then the top about twenty times.
Once I decided on that, I spent the next hour trying out different accessories. Gold or silver? Rose or black? Then I changed my top again.
By 5:30 I was angry and frustrated and a little sweaty. Why was I freaking out?! Leo and I were working on being friends, nothing more.
At 5:45 I forced myself to sit down and stop messing with things. I was on the verge of chopping my own hair and Roxy was starting to notice my restlessness. She asked me if I was okay and I brushed her off, "yeah, just going out for a bit."
Roxy gave me a funny look, but didn't push further.
At 5:55, I got a call from Leo. I watched my phone right twice before I picked up, just in case he thought I was too eager.
"Hello?" I started and it immediately so'unded like I was on speaker.
"Hey!" Leo sounded excited, "I'm somehow in your parking garage and I won't be able to get out without you."
I straightened, "who let you in?"
"I just, went in," he said, very confused himself, "like drove up to the door and it opened."
I quickly got up and grabbed my purse, "okay, I'll be down in a second." I glanced at Roxy, "can I borrow the extra FOB for the parking?"
She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, "yeah sure, let me go get it."
I turned my attention back to my phone, "I'll be down in a jiffy," I told Leo.
"See you!" He said back excitedly and I hung up the call.
My stomach picked up again and I started to literally shake with anxiety. When Roxy returned and I took the FOB from her she was looking at me nervously, "are you okay? Do you need help?"
I might as well tell her, "I'm going to hangout with Leo."
Her smile broke out into a grin, "and he's picking you up? That's exciting!"
I frowned, "except I feel like I'm going to pee my pants I'm so nervous."
"Nervous why? Because of the band thing? Or because you like him?"
"I don't know," I whispered, "but less the band thing, I think."
She nodded, "if you like him, go for it. Live a little!"
I narrowed my eyes at her, "its not that simple."
"Except it is, and you're putting too much pressure on just a hangout," Roxy started to push me towards the door. "Now get going, before he thinks he's stood up."
I jolted at that and rushed out of the apartment and to the elevator. The elevator took forever, or at least it felt like it because I was rushing now. Finally, I made it down and went through the door into the parkade. I glanced around and there was only one car that was idle in the whole area. I slowly walked over to it, trying to relax my heart and take deep breaths. It wasn't working but I was trying.
