In fact, when I went into the dining room, my mom sat there writing something on the table.
As our eyes met, I decided to speak.
"Mom, what's wrong??" I crossed my arms.
"Why are you acting this way..?? You aren't even giving him a chance."
She got up from the chair, exasperated.
"Evelyn, Alex doesn't seem nice! He's so rude. You deserve a better friend than him."
"Mo-"
"No 'but's. We need to get him away. He's a mean, mean boy. Has he hurt you??"
MOM WHAT
"What?? Mom, you're craz-" Her eyes dart at me, snapping.
"Evelyn, I am being completely normal. I am your mother and I can help you however I want. I am protecting you..!"
UGH !!
"I'm sorry." I lower my head and place my hands to my sides.
"Evelyn..??"
Peering at me from up the stairs, Alex waved kindly.
"..Come on!"
"Okay, one second..!!" I hollered back, turning my gaze to my mom, who was staring at me with concern but frustration.
"..mom.. I have to go." blush spread across my face.
She rolled her eyes. "Alright.."
I sped up to my stairs, barely holding on to the rail.
