🌿first day of school - MATH!

I shuffled in my backpack and took my textbooks and a pen as I shut it, it slamming.

OOPS!! :(

A wave of embarrassment rushed through me as I stepped a few feet AWAY from my locker.

...OH MY GOSH I WAS ALREADY MESSING UP!!!!! :(

..thank God nobody really looked at me!!..

The bell rang loudly, the noise quieting down a little.

Sure, I was anxious, but hey!!

FIRST CLASS, HERE I COME!!! :)

I went into the hallway, and into the first classroom on the left, opening the door as several students shuffled in.

The teacher spotted me.

"Hey, miss!! You're our new student, right?"

"Yes, ma'am! I'm Evelyn Smith. How are you?" I waved, smiling.

"I'm Ms. Taylor! I'm doing well."

Finding a empty seat, I sit down in the front of the room, watching Ms. Taylor at the chalkboard while other kids sit down.

"Students, I hope you all are doing well! And because we have a new student, we'll have to go back on what we've done before. So, we'll be adding decimals. I'll be passing you all a worksheet by the end of class."

A wave of nervousness rushed over me.

Decimals?! What even IS that?! :(

Well, if I listen, I'm sure I'll be okay :)

About 40 minutes later, a sheet of paper fell to my desk.

??!

Scanning through the paper, I realized it was a worksheet on adding decimals, exactly what the teacher had just spoken about for 45 minutes.

Because it was now 8:40 AM on the clock.

I was SURE I could do this, since I listened! :)

Alright..

Find the sum.

4.3 + 0.00000 = 4.3

83.12 + 0.00660 = 83.1264

0.006 + 0.099 = 0.105

0.007 + 0.028 = 0.035

8.5 + 7.123 = 15.622

7.11 + 1.804 = 8.914

Alright!! :) I think I did pretty well!!

By the time I was done, (around 8:55??) Ms. Taylor took the papers from everyone and reviewed them quietly.

I noticed she smiled at my workmore than anyone else!!! :)

YES!!!!

In general, math class went well!!! This was a great start to my school year.
