"Holy shit that's actually really fucked up" kenji's mouth was hung open, shocked by what happened between y/n and kei, "I mean, atleast you had some type of escape after all that, I guess? I wouldn't be able to live in the same town, like yall probably had dates and stuff all around"
"Yeah, it was a pretty good thing that I went to New York right after, I would've killed myself if I stayed here" she laughed, kenji just looked at her concerned, "Oh im kidding"
She lightly punch his shoulder, "are you over him though?"
Y/n looked down at her feet, as she noticed warm lights that came from a cafe, "Yeah, but he was my first love and first everything, despite everything that really happened between us I think a part of me wouldn't be able to forget him and all" kenji nodded slowly indicating that he understood what she was saying.
"You wanna go to the cafe? don't worry, my treat" he smiles. They entered the place, and was greeted with warmth, since it was freezing cold outside, a female waitress went and gave them a menu right after they chose a table to sit on.
"Ooh their cinnamon rolls looks amazing, you wanna share one? or just take any dessert you want, don't be shy" y/n looked through the menu a bit more but she just chose to share a cinnamon roll, and to order a hot chocolate with it.
While kenji was telling the waitress their order, the bell of the cafe door rang, declaring that someone came in, y/n looked up to see kei and nao coming inside. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me" she whispered but it was loud enough for kenji to hear.
"What happened?" kenji looked behind him to where y/n was looking at, "Oh shit, is that him?" he quickly looked back at the h/c haired girl that was biting her lip from the inside, "mhm" trying to not get kei and nao's attention.
Everything was going so well today, of course something was bound to ruin it, that's what y/n thought, it was about to be even more ruined when they started approaching the booth beside y/n and kenji.
Of course on their way to the seat, kei caught sight of y/n's face, he then realised that there was somebody sitting in front of her. He furrowed his eyebrows wonder who it might be.
Nao's voice interrupted his thoughts, "Y/n??" y/n looked up at her, acting shocked even though she knew that they were going towards their direction, "Oh hey nao! nice to see you...again" she smiled,
awkwardly saying the last word of her sentence.
"And who's this—?"
Kenji looked up at them, kei raised an eyebrow as soon as he saw his face, "hey, my name's kenji, im y/n's friend" he looked vaguely familiar, but kei couldn't remember where he saw him.
"Oh I remember you! you were the dude from last night right?" kei heard nao say, and kenji just nodded and smiled at the same time.
"I knew you looked familiar! kei where did you wanted sit again?" nao turned to him who just stared at the two who was staring back at them, "Let's go over there" he pointed to the booth at the very end of the cafe, "Oh—okay, well it was nice seeing you two!" kenji and y/n nodded as a goodbye.
As soon as they walked away y/n sighed, a sign of relief.
"Thank god, I thought I had to put up with them for the time we're gonna be here too"
Their food soon arrived but kenji could feel kei's eyes, like daggers at both him and y/n, looking from time to time. He already understood that kei wanted her back, from the way his demeanour was towards him, but he didn't know he wanted her back that bad.
After they ate, drank their drinks, and paid, it was already 11 o'clock at night, they figured that they should probably walk back home, since y/n had something planned tomorrow morning, aka a meeting with kei at the restaurant.
"You know, it's very much obvious he wants you back right?" Kenji said while they walked out of the cafe, y/n looked at him like he just said he committed a crime, "that's absolutely ridiculous, kei's just like that, he's not friendly with anybody, don't take it personally"
"If you say so"
They soon both arrived at y/n's apartment building, kenji gave her a hug goodbye and she hugged him back, "I had a lot of fun tonight, can I come swing by tomorrow to the restaurant and maybe bring lunch? as long as it's okay with you"
Y/n thought about it for a minute, nao was probably gonna come for kei too, and she didn't want to suffer again like the other time, so she decided to agree.
She gave him a wave goodbye before entering inside, he waved back, and started walking away with a smile on his face.
He called up yamaguchi, "it went perfectly."
