"We'll be in a single-line formation. Kiba, you'll be in front. You and Aukarma will track Sasuke while also altering us to traps. Next will be (YN). You will fly above us on one of your summons. It will provide an aerial vantage point for us." Shikamaru explained before pointing to himself.
"I'm squad leader so I'll be next. It will allow me to give orders to everyone easily. Verbal orders will be given to Kiba and (YN). I'll communicate to everyone else through hand signals."
Your brows scrunched up at Shikamaru's words. How was he supposed to communicate with you verbally if you would be flying above everyone? Seeming to sense your confusion Shikamaru gestured to Yumi who was still resting on your arm.
"Yumi can fly down here with us. She will stay beside me and will communicate through caws to the summon you will be flying on and vice versa."
Yumi ruffled her feather's at his words as she cocked her head to look up at you. A playful glint flashed in her eyes as her voice began to echo in your head.
"No need for me to do that. We can communicate telepathically...didn't Gyo tell you that?"
You blinked once at her words followed by several more rapid blinks...what the hell?! Gyo never told you that! Your eyes then widened. What if she could read your mind too!?
"Can you read my mind?" You voiced aloud, causing everyone to shift their attention to you.
"Of course not! I'm not some creep!" Yumi snapped, her talons tightening their grip around your arm. You were suddenly very grateful for the gauntlets...without them, you would undoubtedly have several puncture wounds.
"As I already told you. You can communicate with me and any of your other summons telepathically. I honestly can't believe you didn't know that. You're such a noob."
You squinted at her words, an annoyed frown crossing your lips. Why did she have so much attitude? You swear, she had more attitude than Ino and Saki combined...
Meanwhile, Shikamaru and everyone else were watching the exchange with wide eyes. To say they were confused was an understatement. The awkward atmosphere was palpable but Naruto soon broke it.
"Uh, guys...am I the only one lost here?"
"No...(YN), can you communicate telepathically with Yumi?" Shikamaru spoke up, his eyes shifting between you and Yumi curiously.
You nodded, your annoyance at Yumi quickly dissipating as you shifted your attention to Shikamaru.
"Yes, we can...I didn't know before now."
Shikamaru hummed at your words as a smirk crossed his features.
"That's rather convenient...it will help us to maintain our stealth if we communicate through your telepathic link to your summons...As I previously stated, Yumi will fly beside me. I'll relay messages to you through her."
You nodded at Shikamaru's words only to jump as Yumi's voice echoed in your head again. This whole telepathic communication thing was throwing you off. You felt like your head wasn't your own anymore. It would take a while to adjust to...
"He sure is bossy isn't he?"
You narrowed your eyes at Yumi's words.
"Play nice."
"No promises~"
You shook your head at her. She was impossible. You then chose to ignore her as you refocused your attention back on Shikamaru. He had just finished explaining everyone's respective positions in the formation.
