You slowly peeked your head out from behind one of the isles in the bookstore. Your eyes nervously darted around as you kept an eye out for your cousin Sakie.
You hoped she didn't think to look for you in here... if she found you...you were doomed...You were sure of it. As you thought this, your mind began drifting back to this morning's events.
~Flashback~
"Hey (YN), can you come over here and help me?" Sakie whined as she struggled to tie the bow on her new light blue dress.
Sighing at this, you walked over to Sakie and began to tie the silky white bow. Once done you glanced up to see if Sakie approved of how it looked. She nodded her head and you turned around and began to walk away.
You only got a few steps though before you felt Sakie's hand wrapping around your wrist as she yanked you back towards her.
"Wait...What's that around your neck?" Sakie asked pointing to your necklace.
Your eyes widened, finally noticing that your necklace was no longer inside your shirt but out in the open. You didn't even notice that it fell out of your shirt...
You internally face-palmed at your obliviousness. As you were internally scolding yourself, Sakie's hand began nearing your necklace.
"It's really pretty...I want it!" Sakie chirped making a grab for your necklace.
"Nooo!" You screamed, instinctively bringing your hand up and smacking Sakie across the face. Her head snapped to the side from the force of the hit and she quickly brought her hand to her now red cheek.
A few pained whimpers came from Sakie as she turned to you with a murderous glare.
"You'll pay for this, you idiot!" Sakie yelled with tears in her eyes as she began to call out for her mom.
Panicking at the thought of getting in trouble, you quickly ran out of the house as fast as you could.
~End of flashback~
"Hmm hiding from someone are we?" A voice mused from behind you.
Your eyes widened in shock at this and quickly spun around to face the person.
This person turned out to be a tall teen who looked to be around 12 or 13 years old. He was wearing what looked to be the Anbu black ops clothing but he didn't have an Anbu mask. Instead, the guy was wearing a black mask that somewhat resembled yours.
Besides his clothing, his most striking features were his spiky silver hair and his relaxed dark gray eye. His other eye was covered by a forehead protector with the hidden leaf symbol on it.
"Well? Who are you hiding from?" The male spoke up again causing you to awkwardly look away.
"I-I'm not hiding! I was just...uh looking at the books." You stuttered reaching for a random book and holding it up for him to see.
"Oh? Really now?" The boy hummed in amusement as he gently took the book from you and brought it up to his face for a closer look. His eye slightly widened as he read the cover noticing that the book was meant for mature audiences.
"Well, I don't think that your parents would approve of your reading choice. So what are you really doing?" The boy said glancing back to you as he placed the book back on the shelf.
You blushed in embarrassment at being so easily caught in the act of lying. You then awkwardly rubbed the back of your neck, contemplating whether to tell him the truth or not. He seemed trustworthy enough you concluded as you began to explain yourself.
