In the hushed quiet of the library, Tae moved carefully between shelves, holding a few thick books that needed reshelving. But behind him, determined and relentless, was Jungkook. Tae could practically feel Jungkook’s pouty, puppy-like eyes drilling into the back of his head.

“Come on, Tae,” Jungkook whined softly, his voice edging on a dramatic whisper as he tried to keep up. “Why won’t you let me meet Taehee? I mean, we’re friends now, right?”

Tae ignored him, moving to a new row, scanning the spines of books as if Jungkook weren’t even there.

Jungkook frowned, his brows knitting together. “Tae! Did you hear me? Why can’t I meet her? We’re friends! Friends get to meet each other’s kids.”

Tae finally looked over his shoulder, expression deadpan. “Who said we’re friends?” he replied, tone almost amused. “Just because I forgave you doesn’t mean we’re friends.”

Jungkook stopped in his tracks, eyes widening as he tried to process Tae’s words. “Wait—what? Then, what are we, if not friends?” he asked, sounding almost betrayed. But Tae had already turned away, moving on as if their conversation hadn’t happened.

Jungkook’s frustration only grew, and he resumed trailing Tae, whining more persistently. “Alright, fine,” he said, clearly on a mission. “If we’re not friends, then let’s become friends. Right here, right now!”

Tae was having a hard time hiding his smile. He could tell Jungkook was desperate, practically vibrating with energy as he followed him around. Jungkook had irritate him alot and now it's his time for a payback. Tae slowed his steps, letting Jungkook catch up a little, secretly enjoying the chance to make Jungkook squirm.

As Tae carefully climbed a small ladder to return a book to a high shelf, Jungkook planted himself by the ladder’s base, arms crossed and face set in a dramatic pout. “Seriously, Tae, you’re just being mean now,” he muttered. “Can’t you see how important this is to me?”

Tae reached up, adjusting the book on the shelf. “And why exactly do you care so much about meeting my daughter?” he asked, his tone as casual as ever.

“Because,” Jungkook replied, voice softening, “She is you....  She is a part of you.”

Before Tae could respond, he suddenly felt the ladder wobble beneath him. His balance slipped, and he let out a startled gasp, feeling himself tilt backward. But before he could touch the ground, Jungkook was there, reaching out and catching him before he could fall.

For a moment, they were frozen in place, Tae half in Jungkook’s arms as he steadied him. Jungkook’s face was tight with worry, his grip firm. “Are you okay?” he asked, voice low and filled with genuine concern. “Can’t you be a little more careful? What if you’d actually fallen?”

Tae blinked, staring up at Jungkook in surprise, his heart skipping a beat as he realized how close they were. It's the first time he's seeing jungkook this close. “You… you can put me down now,” he managed, feeling oddly flustered.

Jungkook’s expression softened, and he slowly let Tae go, his hands lingering a little longer than necessary before finally stepping back. But the instant Tae was steady again, Jungkook’s face lit up with his usual playful determination.

“See? This is why we need to be friends,” Jungkook said, back to his cheerful self. “Then I can always be around to catch you when you fall. So, let’s make it official, alright?”
