Tae sat comfortably in Mrs. Choi’s cozy living room, chatting with her as they both having cups of tea. The warm glow of the room made it feel like time had slowed, allowing them to enjoy the quietness. But suddenly, their peaceful evening was shattered by a loud shout from one of the rooms.

“YES! You did it!” came Jungkook’s excited voice, carrying through the walls like he’d won the jackpot.

Both Tae and Mrs. Choi jumped up, exchanging wide-eyed looks before rushing toward the room. Tae’s heart raced as he imagined a hundred different scenarios, none of which explained Jungkook’s wild shouting.

They burst into the room only to be met with the sight of Jungkook bouncing around, Taehee held safely in his arms. Jungkook’s face was alight with pure, unfiltered joy, and Taehee was giggling like she’d just discovered the most fun game in the world.

“Jungkook!” Tae exclaimed, somewhere between surprise and disbelief. “Why are you jumping around like you just won the lottery?”

Jungkook turned toward them, his smile so bright it was almost blinding. “Because I did!” he said, laughing breathlessly. “I won something way better than a lottery.” He stopped bouncing just long enough to give Tae and Mrs. Choi a proud, almost smug look.

Mrs. Choi’s eyes twinkled with amusement as she stepped forward. “Alright, young man, spill it! What’s got you acting like an overgrown bunny?”

Taking a deep breath to compose himself, Jungkook gave Taehee an affectionate look and murmured, “My little princess… go on, show them.”

Tae and Mrs. Choi leaned in, curiosity painted across their faces. Jungkook gazed down at Taehee, his eyes warm, and said softly, “Alright, Taehee… call me Dada.”

Taehee’s little face lit up, her chubby cheeks scrunching as she looked up at Jungkook. A tiny giggle escaped her before she managed a series of soft, babbling sounds. “D… Da-da… Da…” she cooed, her tiny voice filling the room.

Both Tae and Mrs. Choi stood frozen, their eyes wide in shock.

“Her… her first word…” Tae whispered, staring at Taehee like he’d been personally betrayed. “And it’s… Dada?”

Jungkook was practically glowing with pride, his grin so wide he looked like he might burst. “You heard her!” he cheered, his excitement renewed as he turned to Tae. “She called me Dada! That’s the most precious thing I could’ve asked for.”

Mrs. Choi clapped her hands together, smiling ear to ear. “Oh, Jungkook, this is wonderful! Her first word… and look at how happy she is with you.” She looked at Tae, her eyes full of cheerfulness. “Well, Tae, I think it’s official.”

But Tae wasn’t having it. Gently, he took Taehee from Jungkook’s arms, holding her close as he gave Jungkook an almost pouty glare. “Taehee, sweetie,” he said, his voice soothing, “it’s not Dada, it’s Appa. Say Appa, baby.”

But Taehee only giggled, her tiny fists reaching up toward Jungkook as she continued her soft babbling. “Da-da… Da…” she said happily, her little fingers stretching toward Jungkook as if she wanted to go back to him.

Tae felt a mix of frustration and betrayal swell up in his chest. “Oh, come on, Taehee!” he muttered, looking at her with an expression that was both affectionate and mildly wounded. Like he would cry in seconds. “After everything I do for you?”

Jungkook laughed, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Aw, don’t take it personally, Tae. I guess she just knows her Dada when she sees him.” He leaned in, giving Tae a teasing smirk. “Face it, even if you don’t accept me as your partner, your princess has officially accepted me as her Dada. And there’s no taking that away now.”
