Taehyung sits in class, staring blankly at the desk in front of him. His mind is miles away, replaying the past few days. Taehee’s fever had finally broken, but the worry still clung to him. He hadn’t wanted to leave her this morning, his heart heavy with guilt. If it weren’t for Mrs. Choi’s insistence that everything would be fine, he wouldn’t have come to college today.
Taehyung’s pov: "She’s okay now... the fever’s gone. But what if something happens while I’m here? What if she needs me? I should’ve stayed home..." all these thoughts are not leaving his mind.
His leg bounced restlessly under the desk. He hadn’t even heard Jimin calling his name until a hand gently touched his shoulder.
“Tae? Hey, you okay?” Jimin asked, concerned.
Taehyung blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. He turned to Jimin, forcing a small smile.
"Huh?"
"Taehyung, are you okay?" Jimin asked, his brow furrowing in concern. "You’ve been quiet all morning. Sure it’s nothing?"
Taehyung shrugged, offering a faint smile. "Yeah... I’m fine. Just... tired."
Jimin wasn’t convinced, his frown deepening. "You sure it’s nothing? You can tell me if something’s bothering you. I’m your best friend, Tae."
Taehyung looked at him for a moment, appreciating the concern, but quickly brushed it off. "It’s seriously nothing," he said with a small smile. "Just didn’t sleep well last night."
Jimin nodded slowly, still watching his friend closely but deciding to let it go for now.
Jimin looked like he wanted to ask more, but Taehyung quickly turned his gaze back to his desk. No one knew about his daughter, and he had no intention of telling anyone—not yet. He couldn’t risk the questions or the judgment. Not like he cares what people says about him but he can never bear anything wrong about his daughter. Not when things were already so complicated.
Behind him, Jungkook sat quietly, watching Taehyung. He noticed the shift in his demeanor, the way he seemed lost in thought, distant. It wasn’t like Taehyung to be so quiet. Jungkook’s brow furrowed. Something’s bothering him... but what? He didn’t push or call him out in front of others, but he couldn’t ignore the feeling.
The class ended and Taehyung quickly gathered his things, he saw a missed call from mrs choi, Jungkook stood up too. He kept a casual distance, following as Taehyung slipped out of the classroom and down the hall. There was something in the way Taehyung moved, like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Jungkook wasn’t sure what it was, but he was determined to find out.
Taehyung quickly left the classroom, making a brief excuse to Jimin before hurrying down the corridor. His heart raced as he pulled out his phone and dialed Mrs. Choi’s number, his steps quickening as he found a quiet spot in the empty hallway. The moment the call connected, he didn’t wait for her to speak.
"Hello? Mrs. Choi?" Taehyung's voice was urgent.
"Taehyung—" Mrs. Choi began, but Taehyung interrupted her.
"Is my Taehee okay? Where are you? Why did you call?" His words rushed out, panic evident in his tone.
"Taehyung, calm down! Taehee is okay," Mrs. Choi reassured him. "We’re at the hospital."
"The hospital?" Taehyung's heart sank. "Why? What happened?"
His chest tightened, guilt gnawing at him for leaving his daughter alone. He was on the verge of tears, fearing the worst.
