Taehyung's pov :

It was just a Sunday. Just one, simple, quiet Sunday, and yet Tae couldn’t shake the restless energy that lingered around him like a shadow. He’d woken up with a plan to spend the day reading, maybe get some fresh air with Taehee. No work, no obligations—just a free, easy day to enjoy.

But, no matter how hard he tried, his thoughts kept drifting back to Jungkook.

Tae closed his book with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. This is ridiculous, he thought, glancing around the quiet living room. The blue forget-me-nots sat in the vase on the table, blooming with such a bright cheerfulness that he couldn’t help but be reminded of Jungkook’s face when he’d put them over. Tae shook his head, muttering, “The guy’s gone for one day, and he’s already haunting me…”

He looked at Taehee, who was playing nearby, her little hands clutching one of the stuffed animals Jungkook had left. Today, she seemed a little quieter, a little more easily distracted. Every now and then, she’d turn her head toward the door, almost as if she was expecting someone to walk in.

“You miss him too, huh?” Tae whispered to her, sighing when Taehee blinked up at him with those innocent eyes. “Great. So it’s not just me.”

As if to prove the point, Tae glanced outside, his gaze automatically drifting across the street to the house that Jungkook usually occupied. It was strange to see it so still, almost lifeless. The sight unsettled him, and he found himself missing the random knocks at his door, the little annoyances, the endless teasing.

“Why is it so quiet without you, coconut head?” he muttered to himself, barely catching the words as they left his lips. The name leaving his lips after a long time. He immediately shook his head. No, no, this is good. Peaceful. Quiet. But somehow, it felt more empty than it did peaceful.

He needed a distraction. Pulling out his phone, he decided to call Jimin. A little chat would help take his mind off things.

“Hey, Jimin,” Tae said, trying to sound casual as he relaxed back into his chair.

“Hey, Tae!” Jimin’s voice was cheerful, but his first question caught Tae off guard. “how are you? Jungkook isn't annoying you much, is he?”

Tae’s mouth fell open, a bit dumbstruck. Seriously? Even Jimin has to bring him up? Tae rolled his eyes, huffing slightly as he replied, “Actually, he’s out of town. And no, he hasn’t been annoying me today. Thankfully.”

“Ohhh, so you must be enjoying the break then!” Jimin teased, though there was a knowing lilt in his voice.

“Break?” Tae repeated, chuckling awkwardly. “Yeah, sure. It’s nice to have a little… quiet.” He glanced around again, the silence of the house suddenly feeling much heavier. Why does this quiet feel so wrong?

When he finally hung up with Jimin, Tae ran his fingers through his hair, feeling more frustrated than before. He couldn’t even rely on Jimin for a distraction without being reminded of Jungkook.

“Why… why is everything about you today?” Tae muttered under his breath, glaring at the flowers, the stuffed toys, even the vase that seemed to be mocking him with its vibrant display. “You’re not even here, and you’re still taking up all this space in my mind. It’s only been a day!” He groaned, feeling like he was losing his grip. I can’t believe I’m missing him. This is ridiculous.

But as much as he tried to push the thoughts aside, they’d creep back in. Little flashes of Jungkook’s face, his playful grin, his terrible, cheesy lines. The way he’d get close and fluster Tae just to watch him react. Tae leaned back, closing his eyes and exhaling slowly.
