(Three days ago)
Like all the previous days, one whole week altogether, the call went straight to voicemail. Jungkook groaned, falling back onto his bed, viciously wiping his stubborn tears caused from a mixture of frustration, anger and fear. Maybe his heart was hurting too but he was refusing to acknowledge the very idea that Taehyung was avoiding him on purpose. Like before, he pulled himself out of bed and made his way to Taehyung's.
It started a little over a week ago. His boyfriend began acting strange, not answering his phone, messages left on read. Jungkook had enough after three days and stomped his way to Taehyung's home. He would've gone sooner but he had school and his finals were just now over.
It was their one year anniversary since becoming a couple and they were supposed to be out celebrating, making memories and yet there he was, taking the spare key from under the little potted plant to the left and letting himself in. His boyfriend was in his room when he arrived, startled with wide eyes, claiming it was a personal issue he was working through and it had nothing to do with Jungkook.
Lies.
Taehyung was lying to him and Jungkook saw through it.
He had known Taehyung for over three years and in that time he had come to know of all of his tells. The little twitch in his lip, how his eyes didn't meet his, the nervous habit of pulling on the end of his shirt. His boyfriend was lying to him.
He decided to ignore it for now, clearly whatever it was Taehyung would tell him eventually. Jungkook trusted his boyfriend, why wouldn't he? Throughout the entirety of their relationship, Taehyung had treated him like gold, never once did he doubt their love, so why start now?
That night was burned into his memory. Jungkook didn't know how it started but it ended with them tied together, their souls intertwining. It was a night Jungkook would cherish forever.
When he awoke Taehyung was gone, a simple note left for him telling him something had come up and Jungkook like a fool believed it. Even with the heartache and disappointment of being left with the pain of their love making to endure it alone, he believed his love.
Now a week later he was reliving the avoidance. Unanswered messages, phone calls that would ring and ring. Even the key had been moved and he couldn't find his beloved.
Until now.
It was by pure chance, walking back from the elders apartment and happening to spot him in the small park, hunched over a bench.
"Tae!!"
His voice startled Taehyung, watching as the elder froze for a second before quickly looking around until he spotted him. The elders eyes widened before they turned back as he abruptly stood, trying to run away.
Jungkook didn't understand, not even as he ran after him, making a scene as he called his name over and over again trying to keep up.
"Tae, wait!!" Finally he reached him, pulling on his arm until he turned around. Distant eyes meeting his. "Tae, why are you avoiding me again? Did I do something wrong?" Those empty eyes peered into his, their meaning caused a pit of fear to only deepen. "Tae? What's going on? Talk to me, please..."
"Let's break up"
"W-what..? No-..no we...what?" Jungkook's hands fell from around the elders arms, his feet had stumbled a half step back, eyes already filling with a stinging wetness.
"Let's break up" the elder repeated, voice dull, even but dull.
"That's-..why?" Jungkook thought back to all of their interactions, every moment they spent together and couldn't come up with one reason why the elder was saying this to him today.
