Jungkook’s situation was dire, overwhelming. His heart raced uncontrollably. The color drained from his face as he heard Taehyung’s words. The sickly yellow hue faded from his cheeks, leaving his face pale and grim. He tightened his grip on Taehyung’s waist, his weak and slender hands holding on firmly. The small bike didn’t leave any room to distance himself, and all the space they had was completely gone. Trembling with fear, he leaned closer to Taehyung’s ear and whispered,

“Are you going to show this to my dad?”

Taehyung turned his head slightly to look at him, the word 'risk' on his lips. The helmet acted as a veil over his vision. Jungkook didn’t understand, nor did he see that gaze. He only heard the relentless question in response,

“What are you talking about?”

His throat tightened as he struggled to speak. How could he say such ‘indecent, absurd’ words? He murmured pathetically, “About what you just said a little while ago?”

Taehyung stared ahead, his voice indifferent as he said, “Oh! The kiss?”

As those words reached Jungkook’s ears, his face burned with embarrassment. He rested his chin on Taehyung’s broad back and murmured,

“Yes, that.”

“Is it embarrassing to say but not to do? You were holding my hand. You pressed your lips against the top of my hand. I struggled to pull it away. If your cocky dumbass brother had seen, he would have arranged to beat me up with his all gang, my dignity would have been destroyed. And uncle has already done so much injustice to me, don't you think, I should take advantage of this opportunity?”

Jungkook’s voice was incredulous as he replied, “I didn’t do that. You’re lying.”

He firmly believed he could never do such a thing. His entire body shivered near Taehyung. Therefore, he was sure that no kiss-like incident would ever happen. Taehyung suddenly slammed on the brakes, stopping the bike, and commanded,

“Get down.”

His voice was sharp and commanding. Jungkook felt a wave of thrill wash over him as he got off. Taehyung also got off without removing his helmet. He pulled out his mobile phone and a one-time mask from his pocket.

Showing Jungkook the mask, he said, “Quick, put this on. And cover your face well with the scarf as well.”

Without a word, Jungkook obeyed the heavy-voiced order. He carefully covered his round face. With a disordered gaze, he looked around. They had stopped at the boundary of the neighboring area. He was startled, realizing he hadn’t even noticed when they left their own area behind and came here. With a tone of surprise, he asked,

“Aren’t we going home?”

Taehyung, focused on his mobile, replied, “We’re not.”

“Dad, mom, and Yoongi hyung will worry for me.”

“Let them.” – Taehyung’s straightforward response.

After that, Jungkook couldn’t muster the courage to speak again. He felt powerless. Inside, tension gnawed at him. Each person linked to his life felt like a ticking time bomb. He feared his mother, his father’s serious demeanor sent shivers down his spine, and  Yoongi’s loving yet furious attitude was even more terrifying.

And Taehyung!

Taehyung was the complex riddle of his small delicate life like himself.

Taehyung put his phone back in it's place and said, “You’ve disbelieved me. You can’t see now. Let’s go there first, then I’ll figure something out. Get on the bike.”
