Lisa was stunned, speechless. She couldn’t believe the words that had come out of Taehyung’s mouth. Her voice, full of shock, wavered,

"What are you saying?"

Taehyung remained calm, seemingly indifferent. But his voice held an unmistakable affection as he replied, “The one I hold dearest in my life is the delicate, beautiful son of your womb, auntie. I declared him the owner of my heart some years ago. Keep him safe for a few more days as my cherished treasure. I’ll take him with me very soon.”

Lisa absorbed each word, every phrase, as if entranced. His words, a strange blend of warmth and resolve, seemed to seep into her hardened heart. For a brief moment, her tough demeanor softened, only to solidify again.

“Why are you calling him a cherished treasure, Tae? Jungkook is my child, not some possession.”

Switching the phone to his other hand, Taehyung smiled gently. “A gift from the God, auntie. Every mother loves her child unconditionally, no matter what. To keep them safe, sometimes she has to scold or even hit them. That’s understandable. But why does she have to treat them with such sternness all the time? You’ve always been too strict with Jungkook. You’re not like that with Yoongi, though. Have you ever hit him even once?

But with Jungkook—could you count how many times you have? Children need proper upbringing, but that can also come with a hand of friendship. Jungkook fears you, auntie. He always feels you might scold or punish him any moment. You’re older than me, his mother. You know him better than I do. But what can I say? Seeing his face like that broke my heart. Love isn’t a crime. Loving me won’t lead him astray. I’ll protect him as much as any parent would want for their child.”

Once again, Lisa found herself captivated. The boy’s words were so refined, so sincere, it was impossible to ignore. She truly had been hard on Jungkook all these years. Her strictness stemmed from the need to uphold the family’s honor, but Taehyung had made her recognize her mistake in a way she hadn’t considered. In a weary voice, she finally spoke,

“Your wish will turn everything upside down, Tae. I don’t have the courage to tell your uncle. If needed he’d lock Jungkook away before letting him be with you.”

“If he agrees, would you accept me as your son-in-law, auntie?”

Lisa grew deeply anxious. How would Taehyung convince Jung Hoseok? That man, with his prideful, severe nature, would never tolerate even a hint of romance involving his son. The very thought drained her, her voice turning frail with worry.

“Your uncle won’t agree. You know the reason. He doesn’t like anyone from your family. Plus, even your youngest uncle would oppose it.”

“Am I not worthy of Jungkook?”

Distressed, Lisa responded quickly, “No, son. But if he leans on you too much, what if he makes a mistake later?”

“Are you afraid, auntie? Don’t be. He’s already mine. Even if the whole world turns against me, I’ll still want him. I won’t let any complicated situation arise where he’d rather choose death than be without me.”

All fear, doubt, and worries disappeared from Lisa’s mind in an instant. She felt relieved and free from her concerns. She didn't dislike Taehyung; in fact, she loved her nephews and brother-in-law dearly. Her worries had stemmed from Jungkook's intense feelings, which she assumed were one-sided.

She had believed Taehyung didn’t feel anything for Jungkook. But now Lisa learned that not only did Taehyung harbor feelings, but he had become a deeply affectionate lover for Jungkook, hiding his love behind a steely exterior. Though somewhat reassured, she suddenly remembered something and, in a tense voice, asked,
