Zander's POV🍇:
Much to my dislike, I awake from my peaceful slumber to my ringtone erupting from my phone on its place on my bedside table. I release a tired groan, reluctantly sitting up while rubbing my eyes vigorously. Flicking my sight over to the mobile device beside me, I squint to scan the contact name of the person who wishes to speak with me at such an early hour. All my fatigue drains out of me once I register who it is, grasping my phone and picking up the call with no hesitation, putting the caller on speaker. I open my mouth to greet the person, only to get interrupted by their ear splitting squeal. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ZAN!" I blink a few times, attempting to process what information has just been revealed to me. In my exhausted trance, I hadn't considered glancing at the date, which is October 29th. A small smile forms on my face, "Thanks, Luke." I can pick up on the little tapping noises of faint footsteps coming from his side, my brain connecting the dots. "Are you coming over?" He makes a hum of approval, "Of course! I'm not going to miss my boyfriend's birthday for the world." I slide back down the bed, resting my head on my pillow as I sigh, wishing I could go back to sleep. "I'm not even dressed yet." His pace slows, giving me the hint that he's almost arrived. "You can worry about that later, I've got to give you your presents first!" I playfully roll my eyes, fully expecting a day of chaos since he has a tradition for going all out when it's someone's birthday. "You sound more excited for today than me." His repetitive footsteps stop, "Well, I'm here! Can you come let me in? I would knock but I don't want to disturb anyone who might be sleeping." I leap out of my comfortable cocoon, regretting it as the blankets wrapped around me gave me a sense of warmth, now the bitter autumn air enters to chill my bones. I open my door, which blocks out my room from the upstairs landing. "Yeah, just one second, I'll unlock the door for you." I shut my door behind me, hanging up the call as I make my way to the staircase.

A teal haired blur rushes out of her room at my movement, resulting in me twisting my head round in confusion. She reaches me, smiling brightly whilst clutching an enveloped card of some sort. "Happy birthday." She hands me the card, with me accepting it gratefully. "Thanks, Hale." She ruffles my already tangled hair, then follows on with beckoning me down the stairs, walking off to the kitchen to gather some food for herself afterwards. I turn to the side table settled in the hallway, taking note of the array of cards neatly displayed from family members. I add Hailey's to the arrangement, placing my phone next to them and collecting the front door keys. Slipping the keys into the door, I allow access into the household as I open it wide, chucking the keys back onto the table. Luke brings himself back to focus at the ruckus, plastering a warm smile on his face when he spots me. Slightly embarrassed from my appearance, I take a step back so he can come inside, thoroughly running a hand through my hair in a failed attempt to flatten it down. He drops a lavender coloured bag on the floor, practically pouncing on me and strangling me in a hug. "Happy birthday!" He exclaims, jumping up and down on the spot like he's heard the best news of his life, all while continuing to cling onto me. I return the hug, chuckling to myself at his antics. "You've already said that, Luke." He removes his head from my shoulder to look me in the eyes, his butterscotch hue sparkling, very similar to a star. "But that was virtually, it's more meaningful in person." Before I can put some of my input into the conversation, he leans in and pecks me on the lips, that giddy smile of his remaining. I raise an eyebrow, his expression being so contagious that I can't suppress my own smile. "What was that for?" He separates himself from the embrace, putting his hands on his hips. "It's a birthday kiss!" He bends down to pick up the bag that he previously released from his grip, proudly holding it out for me to grasp. I take it from him, dangling it by the handle to search every inch of the decoration, different places being individual shades of purple. I rest it on the table, pulling out the first content my fingers find, which happens to be four cards, all with my name written on the envelope cover. Luke joins me, standing beside me and latching his hand onto mine. "They're all from the club, I think you can recognise Milly's instantly." I skim over the handwriting on each one, my eyes stopping on one in particular with my name covering the whole front of the card, in capitals. I snort, glancing at the other three, knowing the owner of them within seconds. Two of them have fairly normal writing, which I have to assume are from Sean and Jake. The last one however has a heart drawn next to my name, and from process of elimination, along with the obvious answer, I have the common knowledge that it's from Luke. I smile, deciding to read them later as I rummage through the gift bag again. My senses pick up on some soft material that feels vastly familiar, lifting the item out to reveal a blazer, kind of like the one I wear constantly, but with newer quality. Attached to it, are three jet-black ties, perfect to wear for special occasions. Fashion is a passion of mine, so catching a glimpse at all of this makes a wave of thrill pass through me, every fibre of my being aching to thankfully squeeze Luke until he can no longer breathe. I'm aware he can read my emotions as his smile widens that little bit more, choosing to disconnect our linked hands while he swaps places with me, now being the one to possess the bag. As he hunts through it, I set the folded clothes onto the table, crossing my arms as a method of containing my excitement. He rolls a tube into his palm, moving the bag onto the floor as a sign that it's empty. He opens his hand when it's located in front of me, my brain identifying immediately that it's mascara. I snatch it from him, rather hastily, spinning it around in my fingers. As I wear it daily, and I was running out of my current mascara, this is really useful for me. He chuckles, clearly enjoying my heavy delight. "I know it's not much, but I have a third present waiting for you in the music room that you'll see tomorrow." I snap my attention away from my gift, placing it on top of my fresh clothing, sighing. "Luke, have you ever heard the saying 'quality over quantity'? You could've got me one gift and I would've been happy with it, it's not like you need to impress me, you know?" He nods, beginning to rub his neck sheepishly. "I know, I just want the day to go perfectly." I raise an eyebrow, "It doesn't have to, pretend it's an ordinary day." He inhales a gulp of air, releasing it slowly. "Okay... I'm still going to spoil you today either way." I facepalm, softly smiling at the same time. "If you insist. Thanks for these gifts though, knowing your surprises I'm certain I'll like the extra present." His overjoyed grin resurfaces, and he randomly attacks me in another hug, with me mirroring his actions as I hug him back. Suddenly, Hailey reappears at the kitchen doorway, leaning on it as she swirls her cereal around with her spoon, smiling at the two of us. "Good choices, Luke. Zander's always had a thing for style." She chomps on a mouthful of cereal while I stare at her, bewildered. "How long have you been standing there?" She nonchalantly shrugs, "Since you saw the mascara." Luke pulls back from the hug, "Considering it's your birthday, I'll be treating you to a date! You can choose where." Hailey swallows her food, my confusion from before now transferring to her. "Don't you guys go on dates like, everyday...?" I roll my eyes, "That's not the point. Anyway, I'll take these to my room with me while I get dressed." I position all the presents back into the bag, lying the multitude of cards on top. Just as I'm about the head to the stairs, I give Luke a quick kiss on the cheek, a faint crimson flush coating his cheeks because of it, his blinding smile taking its usual form on his face. "Thanks again, Luke!" Starting to go up the repetitive steps, I overhear Hailey mumbling, "Luke, it was just a kiss on the cheek, no need to swoon over him with your lovesick eyes." Luke simply scoffs in return, "Oh, shut up."
