Genre: Fluff💗 & Small Angst💔

Hailey's POV🎤:
I blankly stare at the sheet music in front of me, tapping my pen to my chin repeatedly. I lift my free hand up to grasp my already tangled teal locks, screwing it up as I wince at my agonising headache. Come on, Hailey, think! Lyrics aren't that difficult to come up with! I slam my forehead onto the desk I'm sitting at, dropping the overused pen, hearing the thump as it lands on the carpet floor. While my brain continues to work overtime, the soothing tunes ringing in my ears surprisingly stops. I frantically whip my head up, flicking my sight to my phone beside me. My fits clench against my palms, built up frustration flooding through me. I leap away from my chair, reaching for one of my pillows scattered out on my bed, and aggressively screaming into it. Once I recover from my anger fit, I reluctantly open my hands, taking in a much needed deep breath. Eventually, I go to collet my pen off the ground, putting it back in its respective place on the table. I remove my headphones from my ears, gently placing them around my neck. I search for my charger, connecting it to my phone, noticing the battery icon alerting me it's charging. I put my hands on my hips, returning my attention to the pure white paper, holding the contents of the competition song. I'm about to make my way back to my seat, but I listen to my brain begging me for mercy and shrug, deciding to do something else with my time. Maybe I should check on Zander... he's being suspiciously quiet... Agreeing with the idea to enhance to Zander, I creep out my door, only having to walk a few more feet until the towering wooden entrance to his room is evident. I press my ear up against the doors surface, eavesdropping on his unsettling silence. Almost instantly, the realisation of what's happening behind the tightly closed door sinks in, and I narrow my eyes in determination. I tiptoe back to my comforting bedroom, shutting the door so no one hears a peep. Rushing to my phone, I click the screen, physically brightening when it turns on and doesn't welcome me with an empty battery image. I unplug it from the cable as I scroll through my contacts, picking Luke as the best candidate for this situation, bringing my mobile device up to my ear as I await an answer to my call. I smile in relief when I hear the familiar voice of one of my close friends. "Hello?" Even though it's such a plain choice of words, the usual enthusiasm in his voice still sticks. "Hey Luke, are you busy?" I pick up on the movements of him standing up from whatever seating he was previously on, prepared to help. "No, I was just..." He hesitates on saying something, quickly choosing not to spit it out. "Thinking about something." I can't help the mocking smirk forming on my face, "Were you thinking about your precious boyfriend by any chance?" I can picture his complexion lighting up with an obnoxious crimson shade, as he stutters out his reply. "Um, n-no! W-Why do you ask...?" I playfully roll my eyes, "Luke, you don't have to pretend you weren't, it's me you're talking to you know?" An awkward laugh escapes him, "Yeah, you caught me..." I sit on the edge of my bed, smiling at his continuous antics. "Honestly, you've been like this for as long as I've known you for, always daydreaming about Zander." He scoffs, probably still incredibly flustered. "Whatever, did you need something?" I perk up at the reminder, snapping my fingers. "Oh yeah! Uh, I think Zander could use some assistance." His mood switches into a serious expression at my tone of voice, "What's happened?" I sigh, "I don't want to assume anything, but I could tell what was running through his mind from the odd silence erupting in his room." Before I can conclude my sentence, Luke interrupts me, already knowing what I'm about to state. "Is he feeling insecure again?" I nod, "Bingo. He's been acting weird for days, this was bound to happen at some point." Whilst I'm adding proof to my conclusion, I can hear a key turning, followed with a door flying open and shutting from his side. "I'm coming now." And with that, the beeps from my phone begin, notifying me that the other half of the conversation has hung up. I take the device clutched in my hand away from my ear, placing it on the patch of bed next to me. I give a slight smile to myself, knowing I can trust Luke to look after my stepbrother. My gaze drifts back to the piece of paper chilling on my desk, daring me to write more lyrics. My smile twists into a committed smirk, as I retrieve my pen and return my position on my desk chair.
