CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Rafe
Hours Earlier...
Spending my day at the country club and drinking isn't practical but it's better than locking myself in Tannyhill and drowning in darkness. At least I'm surrounded by people and good vibes and my mind can be free.
But when assholes try to get in my face that's when it starts to get ugly. Kelce comes running over to me and presses for me to calm down and sober up. "Dude... I just saw John B and your sister buying beer. Alana was with them too."
I shake my head. "No.. Alana's at her Dad's old place. Cleaning it up and packing."
"Not this morning she wasn't." Kelce argues. "I can text her right now and ask her what she's doing and she'll be honest with me."
I raise my brow at him and feel the last shot I took burning it's way back up my throat. "Text her and tell her if she's lying I won't-" I swallow bile as it burns. "I won't do that thing with my tongue she likes."
"Ew." Kelce mutters. "I just asked her if she wants to grab a drink today. Now we wait."
Seconds later Alana texts him back. It's a selfie of her in her old bedroom back in the cut with clothes scattered everywhere, piles of books, and she's holding an old teddy bear. Unless you want to bring beer to the cut I don't think I'll have time. Currently reliving every childhood memory and it's not fun. There's a sadness in her eyes and it hurt my heart to see her like that.
"Tell her I won't-"
"I'm not telling her anything about your tongue, Rafe."
Fuck. I'm past drunk. "But she likes it."
"I don't." Kelce fake gags. "Especially since she's my friend I do not want to know any details of what you two do in the bedroom."
"It wasn't in the bedroom." I wave him off as he gets me to leave the country club. "That was on the kitchen counter and let me tell you... Best thing I ever ate in that kitchen was her."
"Yeah, you're drunk. Let's go. You need to sober the fuck up because if you go off and try to find her you're going to catch her hands right to your face." Kelce says as he drags me off.
Kelce offers to bring me to his house to sober up but I have him drop me off at Barry's. I'm not entirely sure why and I think the alcohol made me forget what Barry has said and done. But after we tried to work together to get that gun from the drains we sort of reconciled. Although I'm still pissed at him for his comments toward Alana.
I walk into his house and the fucking weirdo is sitting there reading a whole ass book. I can't escape it. Alana reads all day every day and now this guy too? I didn't think he even knew how to read. His texts are hardly legible.
"Damn, you're early." He says without lifting his face from the page he's on.
"You got my shit?" I ask.
He closes the book with a sigh. "Yes, I've got your shit. You got my money?"
I toss him the money and he tosses me a baggie. If Alana knew what I was doing to get these fucking dark thoughts out of my head she'd probably kill me. But right now it's open fucking season.
"I need a piece too."
Barry laughs. "Country Club killer now, huh?"
"Don't fuck with me. I'm not the person you want on your bad side, Barry. Not right now." I warn him.
"What you even need a piece for?"
"John B is back. I need to finish what the fuck I started when it comes to him. He puts my girl in danger just by living and breathing. He's back and now he doesn't come home? He's a liability, Barry."
"Your girl still owes me." Barry sits straight up. "You might have paid me back but she hasn't. She owes me."
"I'll pay for her-"
"Nah... You can't give me what I want. She can though." He moves forward. "Tell me, Country Club... How's her head? Good? She seems like she can deep throat it."
Just because she can doesn't mean she will. My brain goes dark. I almost want to buy the gun from him just to fucking kill him with it just for saying that. But right now I've got bigger fish to fry. And I know Alana can handle herself when it comes to Barry. I'd never leave her alone near him anyways.
Barry grabs me a piece and hands it to me. "We do this... We're even. You leave Alana out of everything. Deal?" I try to make that known to him.
He sighs and then nods. "Fine. Deal."
Barry and I get on our bikes and we pull over as it gets dark. I check my phone to see if Alana is at that old run-down shitty house and I realize because this is my new phone we aren't sharing locations anymore.
I send her a location request. It's not out of the ordinary for us.
Bonnie (avocado emoji) has started sharing location with you. I click it instantly and see that she's there. In the yard, so, I'm assuming she's moving things outside. I watch as the dot with her contact photo goes into the house and stays there. The closer I get to the house the more I see her going back and forth.
"John B's gotta be at the house, bro. She's all over the fucking thing." I show Barry and he shakes his head.
"You know that shit ain't always accurate, right? It's just to show she's in that circle." He points to the screen. "And why the fuck is she Bonnie?"
"Cause I'm her Clyde." I tell him as I sniffle, taking another small bump from the bag before tucking it into my pocket and getting ready to ride on over there. "And Clyde will do anything for his Bonnie."

Barry checks the outside and I head inside. I follow on my phone until it tells me I'm practically on top of her location. I hear music coming from the upstairs so I go slowly. Gun in my hand and I'm shaking...
I draw closer to a closed bedroom door and there's lighting coming from under it. The sound of that singer she's always listening too is rattling the door. I hear her singing along to the words and my heart thunders.
Stupid me, I kick the door open and find Alana standing there with a big t shirt on and she screams at the top of her lungs. The room has everything in piles and it's organized chaos. She looks at the gun and then looks at me.
"Rafe, what the fuck is wrong with you?!" She scolds me. Rightfully so.
I swallow hard. "You didn't text me all day and I... I just thought you... Maybe you were uh.."
"Cheating on you?" She crosses her arms. "Put the fucking gun down."
I do and I even place it down on top of her dresser. I close the door behind me and she takes one long hard look at me. Shaking her head before wrapping her arms desperately around me. Pulling me into her body. That citrus scent hitting my burning and itching nostrils...
She's so fucking addicting.
"I'd never cheat on you, you fucking idiot." She rests her forehead against mine. "Avocado."
"Avocado..." I repeat back to her before covering her mouth with my own. Letting my tongue slide against hers while she moans into my mouth. My hands travel and grab her ass before going up to the small of her back to try to get those shorts off of her when I feel something on her. "Alana... Is that a gun..." She looks at me blankly and nods. "Why the fuck-" My blood boils.
