It was a damp rainy November day. Not a beautiful crisp fall but the warmth autumn once brought was now getting pushed out for a truly cool winter soon falling over Hogwarts. Sirius has come over for tea and per usual, served it with a side of his casual over dramatizations of my love life. This would forever be the day that Sirius Black had to both believe James and I were over AND that we were both going to be single soon.
I was softly breaking to him that Monty and I were going to no longer seeing each other.
"From the bottom of my heart."
"The very bottom?"
"More of a bottom than you."
Sirius scoffed, "Oi!" He crossed his arms over his chest watching me, my expression not faltering. I raised my brow at him, "Ugh, fine." He waves his hand at me, "Continue."
I smiled, fixing the cover over my lap. "I truly cannot stand Monty anymore." Sirius gasped, clearly feigning emotions. "Oh my why that is so terribly awful." I lowered my chin and narrowed my eyes at him.
"I am truly devastated to hear such news." Sirius put his hand over his heart moves a piece of his hair behind his ear. "But do tell, Ranger. Do tell." Sirius leaned in closer to me. Jumping away as my front door opened.
James entered the common space, a towel hanging loosely around his neck. His joggers hanging loosely at his hips and his shirt mysteriously gone. His black hair was completely askew, its pieces stuck to his forehead with sweat. James was panting which could only mean one thing.
It was a Thursday.
It was his conditioning day.
Usually I was his conditioning.
I gulped as I felt my cheeks get hot. Thank you Merlin for my husband. I knew Sirius was talking to James, I could see James' mouth moving, talking to Sirius and I could see Sirius beside me moving his head like he was talking.
I just couldn't hear anything, James' abs were sucking all of the sound of the room. Get your head in the game, Diana. I cleared my throat and listened to their conversation.
"Yeah it was about 15 times."
"Bloody hell."
"It's light I know."
"Prongs I would lose my legs if I did the pitch as laps 15 times."
I looked at my fingers as they spoke trying to regain a sense of myself. I wore 8 rings today, 3 of which were stacked on my ring finger to try and hide my wedding ring.
"Prongs you came just in time for big news."
I glanced to see my husband had taken a seat across from me, "What would that be?" The words fell from his mouth as he tried to control his breathing. James leaned back against the couch, his hips jutting forward. His thighs spreading apart as his hands reached up behind his neck lying back.
Sirius smirked at James' position, "Our dear Ranger here is cutting Monty loose." I smiled at his words before looking at James, "Oh." He said quickly, almost emotionless like he wasn't processing the information, "That's great?" He said and one of his hands moves up to scratch the back of his head.
"You don't feel anyway about the news?"
Sirius questioned, his eyes narrowing on James' face. "As long as that's what Diana wants. As long as she's happy." He shrugged like it was nothing. Sirius shot up.
"Hmm."
James raised an eyebrow to him, "What?" He crossed his arms, cocking his head at Sirius. Mr. Black always a bad thought when a certain smirk played across his lips the way it was doing so now. "How's uh Cordy? I haven't heard of her from you in a while?" Sirius was nipping at James like a crow on a stormy day, excited and beyond annoying to everyone else.
"I haven't spoken to her"
Sirius' mouth made a popping noises only comparable to a balloon.
"Diana how do you feel about that?"
I laughed, pulling my chin to my chest before looking up at Padfoot. "It doesn't suprise me if that what you mean pads." I smiled at him sweetly which greatly frustrated him. "Doesn't bother you? That's all? Merlin! you are deranged." Sirius head snapped back and point a finger. His body straighten, his head following and he flew at me. Inches away from my face he spoke slow.
"Elaborate. Now. Ms. Diggory."
It was pensive, like he saw into my soul.
"I um" I flushed at his closeness. PULL IT TOGETHER GIRL, GOOD GODS.
He raised his eyebrows at me, his eyes opening wider.
"I haven't heard her, you know?" I shrugged a bit and Sirius whipped his head. James Potter was going to die. "You snog loudly when the love of your life is right across the hall?!" Sirius paused for dramatic effect, "Shame on you! Shame on you good sir." He turned his head away from James.
"Good sir?"
"Oh I can't even look at you right now."
I laughed and then both bumbling boys had their sights on me. Sirius' eyes began twitching.
"You lot are horrid. Horrid people. Disgustingly, lustful, and decrepit. I wish to wipe my hands of you." Sirius strutted to the door. "Pads, please, why can't you except that James and I are past everything?" I asked him and Sirius' posture instantaneously went perfectly straight.
"No." He spoke.
"There's a love, a romantic unchanging love between you too. We all feel it." He turned his face to the side slightly. "And I don't care how long you both prance around it, I will be the wedding when you realized I'm right." His hand moved to the door knob and he left.
Slamming the poor door behind him.
