34~Nick

Today is finally the day that I get to leave the hospital.  Zack and my mom were allowed to spend the night at the hospital with me. I was actually quite glad that they were with me so I didn't have to be alone, but I also felt rueful. Zack seemed to have been exhausted. During the night, I would keep hearing him gasp awake, making me wake up to see if he was okay. Of course he was, so he just went back to sleep.

My mom hasn't suspected anything with Zack and me. Maybe I should tell her that Zack and I have been dating for quite some time. It's not like that she will be freaked out or anything. Besides, Zack and I are about 3 years apart. It's not that much of an age difference.  Maybe she will understand that Zack and I love each other and she will be fine with it.

The nurse insisted on making me be in the wheelchair so they could get me out of the hospital a little bit easier. So, I got into the wheelchair, and the nurse started pushing me out to the parking lot as mom went out to get the car around and Zack followed the nurse.

Before mom left to get the car, she and Zack had a discussion about him staying with us for a few days. First, he denied, then he finally gave in into my mother's plead. This shall be an exciting few days.

We make it to the parking lot and my mom's car is next to the curb. "Thank you," I mutter and stand up from the wheelchair, immediately getting woozy.

Before I was be able to fall to the ground, I land on Zack's chest, and his arms wrap around my shoulders as he picks me back up so I'm standing upward back on my feet. I feel my face get hot with him touching me like this. I missed this so much.

"Careful there," Zack purrs into my ear, making me shudder. He opens the car door, and helps me in the seat and buckles me in. After he's done with that, he shuts the door and gets in on the passenger side of the car.

"How about we all go to lunch, eh? Like, Noodles 'n Company? It would be good on your stomach, right, Nick?" My mom questions and begins to drive out of the parking lot.

I groaned in response, I didn't feel like eating anything. The doctors filled me up on all sorts of medications, making me feel quite sick in my stomach.

"Is that a 'no' then?" My mom sighed, slightly glancing back at me, giving me a sad look.

"I'm sorry," I reply to her, "I'm just not that hungry."

My mom nodded as she looked onto the road, "I understand that," She said more to herself then me.

"But," Zack chimes in, turning around in his seat to face towards me, "The doctor said you need to drink lots of fluids."

Before I could respond my mom quickly speaks up once more, "We can go back to the house; I can make some tea for all of us!"

Zack smiles softly and stares at me for a moment longer, making me feel a slight blush come across my face. One of the main things I missed most about Zack was his smile. How his soft, pink lips curve up into grin, how his perfectly white, sharp canines gives him that fierce look. . .

"Nick?" I hear Zack smooth voice say.

"Huh? I say dazed. Did I really tune out everything that has been going on in the car?

Zack chuckles, "We're going to go back to your house and just relax the day off, alright?"

I nod and look out the window, watching the buildings pass by. Well, knowing that we're just going to be home, is probably the right time to tell her about Zack and I dating. I hate keeping secrets from her anyway, so this will be good. But, how would I say it? Just blurt it out and tell her that we're a couple? Or take steps through it? I have no idea. It was already hard enough to tell her about dating Pierce.

"We're finally home!" My mom announces as she parks the car. "So, Zack, I will get your bag inside and can you help Nick out?"

"Of course, Lori," Zack grins and gets out of the car.

The car door next to me opens, revealing Zack. I smile slightly and unbuckle my seat - belt. Zack's hands place themselves onto my hips, causing me to blush brightly.

He chuckled silently, "You're so cute," He murmured into my ear, making me blush even more. I swear if Zack keeps making me a look like a blushing maniac, I know that my mom will definitely figure something out between us.

Zack helps me out of the car, letting me stand on my feet, and help me to walk up to the front door. "Alright, left foot, now right," Zack repeated as he helped me to walk.

"I know how to walk," I mumbled, giggling slightly as to what Zack is doing.

After laughing at one another, we make it into my house after my mom unlocks the front door. Zack sets me on the couch, sitting next to me, and after a short while of silence, my mom comes over to us with hot chocolate, and sits on the chair across from us.

"So, Zack, why did you want to come and visit?"Mom asks while sipping her tea.

"Well, um, I had a vacation, and well," Zack stutters, starting to lose what to say. This is the time. I have to tell mom now.

"Mom, uh, we need to tell you something," I say shakily and look at Zack. He's looking at me with widened eyes and with her mouth slightly hanging open.

"Oh, what is it?" Mom asks with a little sarcasm leaking in her voice.  "You guys are dating, aren't you?"

"How did you know?" Zack and I both say in unison.

Obviously, I'm stunned. Sure, maybe my mom had suspicions with me and Zack about keeping contact with each other, and whatnot; probably because Zack doesn't have such a good excuse with coming here to visit us.

"I might be working most of the time, but I'm not blind," She smiles and leans back in her chair. "Just, no sex until Nick is at least of age, and probably keep this whole relationship secret because of the age, alright?"

"Yes, ma'am," Zack chuckles and grabs my hand.

A smile comes across my face along with happy tears filling up in my eyes. I can't believe my mom said that. I didn't think she would have taken it that well. I thought she wouldn't have even guess about us.

"And, sorry, but Zack, you will have to be sleeping in the guest room," My mom sighs a little and sips her tea again.

"I'll take it, thank you so much, Lori," Zack says again with a huge smile plastered across his face. He leans close to me, and pecks me on the cheek, making me get all the electric feelings all over my body.

Well, that's a negative that he can't sleep with me, but at least Zack will still be in the house as me. That's all the really counts. The feelings I have contained inside of me have no words to be described. This is just so amazing, I can't believe it.

"I love you, mom," I say smiling as wide as possible.

"I love you, too, sweet - pea. So, Zack, welcome to the family," She grins.

I would have never thought I would hear those words leave her mouth. This is the best day of my life.
