Chapter 11:

Leo was set to leave the day after Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving my parents, Leo's parents, Leo and I sat around my dinner table talking and eating. After that we took pictures and played video games, I was so happy I forgot Leo was leaving the next day.

Early the next morning Leo knocked on my door and he led me into a cab. The air was filled with a thick silence as we drove to the airport.

"Where are your parents?" I asked.

"They're driving the furniture back to L.A." Leo replied.

"Oh."

At the airport Leo paid the cab driver and we walked as far as I could, holding hands.

"I'll miss you." I said trying not to cry.

"I'll miss you too." Leo said pulling me into a hug.

I started crying again and I babbled on about how we would stay connected, but he kissed me until I shut up.

"I love you." He said staring into my eyes.

He said I love you, I thought. He said I love you! We'd never said I love you before, I guess we weren't sure. But now as we stood face to face, hand in hand during our toughest time I knew I loved him.

"Leo, I love you too." I said kissing him again.

They announced Leo's flight and I felt my heart ache. I rumbled through my purse and handed Leo a gift bag.

"Open it when I'm gone." I said handing it to Leo.

He grabbed it and hugged me one last time. Our lips met without trying and I felt his heat. They announced his flight again and he ran off.

"Bye!"

"Bye..." I called back.

I took a cab back home and sadly stared out the window. Rain drops blurred my view so I wasn't surprised I couldn't see when my eyes watered up. I paid the cab driver and ran inside my house. I crawled into bed with a jacket Leo had left me and cried a little longer. I still felt Leo's lips on mine, his arms around my waist. I still smelled his scent, warm and familiar. I turned on the t.v. and went on Netflix. I was going to watch every episode of Kickin' it so when the next season came out I would be caught up and could watch it with Leo.

*Leo's point of view*

I waited until the plane took off then opened up the gift bag. There was a framed picture of Karla and I from Thanksgiving. I was staring at the camera and Karla was looking over at her mom. I could still here Karla's mom teasing her and Karla's giggle as she tried not to laugh. I smiled then pulled out a hand written letter.

"Dear Leo, I'm so proud of you, all of your hard work has paid off. Well I've told you this before but I'll say it again, I'm going to miss you a lot. I hope you have a great time and don't let me stand in the way of anything. See you soon. -Karla "

I stared intensely at the part where it said 'See you soon' , erased behind it were the words 'I love you'. I sighed and held the letter in my hands. When would Karla just tell me how she really feels and when would she finally understand that she's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
