Chapter 15:

We all sat around a giant table at an unknown pizza parlor talking. Everywhere we went the paparazzi hounded Leo and his friends, this was the only place they wouldn't look.

"We were walking to school, on my first day, and these guys jumped us!"

I put down the slice of pepperoni pizza I was eating and felt my stomach drop. Leo was telling them about the time we fought Bruno and his gang.

"Katie killed him."He said proudly.

I bit down on my lip as everyone turned to look at me, their jaws hanging open in complete shock.

"Oh my gosh!"Olivia gasped.

"What happened?"Mateo asked.

"I went to court."I muttered.

"What, I never knew! Why didn't you tell me?"Leo asked confused and hurt.

"I killed him, I went to court, I won, no big deal." I muttered bitterly.

I sat there angrily, it actually was a big deal. I hadn't want anyone to find out and here he was telling everyone.

Leo glanced at me, his eyes saying we would talk about this later and he went on to talk about our winter break.

"I hid in Karla's closet when she went to get blankets and I jumped out on her..."

I slid my plate away and clenched the seat of my chair. I could feel my heart thumping wildly. I knew what he was going to say next. I just couldn't believe he was so open about these things.

"And then we were talking and I found out..."

Before Leo could finish his sentence a swarm of paparazzi came in snapping pictures and hurling questions at us. Jason, who had paid the bill when we ordered, slapped a tip on the table and steered us to the nearest exit. I was trailing behind them when two guys pulled me back.

"Who are you?" They asked.

I stared at them blankly trying to pull away.

"Are you dating Mateo?"

"What?" I gasped looking for Leo, Jason, anyone.

I shielded my eyes from the bright white lights of the cameras but the snapping noise was deafening. They screamed random questions at me as I tried to move but it was no use they were all surrounding me. I felt like a deer caught in headlights; hopeless, afraid and unable to move. Then they suddenly parted away and Leo stepped forward. He grabbed my hand and pulled me away to a back alley where the others were. I took a deep breath and leaned against the wall, that was one of the worst experiences of my life.

"Are you okay?" Leo asked sympathetically.

"Fine." I tried to smile but the truth was, coming here was a big mistake.
