Chapter 20:
"Are you sure?" Jason asked.
I nodded at him and the others looking at me. I stared out the windows and watched the planes take off into the clouds. I really didn't know if I was sure or not, but there was no turning back now.
"Yeah, I'm sure."
"I'm sorry, I'm going to miss you." Olivia smiled softly giving me a hug.
The others apologized and hugged me as well until I was face to face with Leo.
"I guess this is goodbye." I whispered holding back tears.
I undid the bracelet and handed it to him.
"No keep it." He pushed my hand back.
I shook my head and dropped it into his pocket, beginning to cry again. Leo hugged me as I choked back on my tears.
"I love you." He comforted but it only made me feel worse.
"I love you too." I cried.
I wiped my tears away and tried to smile. Then I pulled back and waved goodbye at everyone. As I headed for my terminal tears began to slide down my cheeks, one after another. I ducked my head so no one could see my face.
"Ticket please?" The flight attendant asked once I got to the entrance.
I was the last person to board.
"Here." I said handing it to her.
Her big white smile faded once she saw me crying.
"Are you okay?" She asked concerned.
"Yeah, goodbyes are just tough."
She frowned and led me to my seat.
"Let me get you some tissue."
"Thank you." I smiled sitting down.
....
I looked around the cold, snowy airport parking lot for my parents but I couldn't find them. I put my suitcase down and sat on it, hugging myself for warmth.
"Karla!"
I looked around,"Mom?"
"Karla!"
"Dad?" I asked standing up.
My parents figures suddenly became visible as I picked up my suitcase and ran to them. I hugged them both and began to cry.
"Oh sweetie, it's okay." My mom cooed.
"We'll talk on the way home, I don't need you getting sick." My dad smiled.
We drove home and I told them everything I had missed over the phone earlier today.
"Don't worry you're safe now." I could see my dad grin through the rear view mirror.
And through tears I grinned back.
