01-11. Battle for Captaincy

"Mar, I'm really worried." Miguel murmured out as he stood in front of the girl in the Miyagi-Do dojo, his hands on his hips.

It was two days later, the day that the six would fight for their spots as male and female team captains.

Robby and Mar had trained at the Miyagi-Do dojo, Sam and Felix trained with Daniel, and Miguel and Tory were supposed to train with Daniel but Johnny came and took Miguel since Tory was nowhere to be seen.

"Miguel, I know this is like really stressful." Mar nodded with a deep inhale. "You three all equally want to be team captain as bad, but as long as you do your best then nothing can-"

"I'm not worried about that." Miguel shook his head as he shut his eyes before sighing. "Well, I am but right now I'm worried about Tory. She hasn't been returning any of my calls or messages and she's not here yet and I'm really worried about her. Did you talk to her yesterday?"

"N- no, she wasn't at school." Mar murmured out as she frowned, folding her arms across her chest. "I just assumed she had taken the day off to train or something. Did you call her today?"

"Yes, call and messaged to see what time she was coming." Miguel nodded at the girl, running a hand through his hair. "I really hope she's here to see me fight."

"She will be." Mar quickly told the boy with a small smile. "She's probably just been busy with something, she'll show up."

Miguel inhaled and exhaled deeply with a nod, folding his arms across his chest. "Yeah, you're right."

Mar smiled with a hum but didn't get to say anything as Johnny and Daniel walked up to the group.

"Okay, to decide the fights fairly.." Daniel spoke up, causing everyone to look to him. "All six fighters will be pulling straws."

"The two fighters with the shortest straws will be the ones to fight the winners." Johnny explained as he held up his hand. "Boys will go first."

Felix, Miguel and Robby all walked towards Johnny. Mar stood with her arms folded across her chest. "Ready?"

The three boys nodded as they exchanged looks with one another. Johnny held it with his other hand as well as everyone watched on.

"Hey, where's Tory?" Mar heard a voice ask. The girl looked to see Amanda, the woman wearing a slightly worried look on her face. "And Alyssa?"

"No clue." Mar sighed out, scratching the back of her neck. Amanda frowned but didn't say anything as Johnny instructed the boys to draw straws.

They all quickly chose a straw before holding it up next to each other. Miguel and Felix held up the long straws. Robby had the short one.

"Miguel and Felix will be fighting first!" Daniel announced to the students. Miguel and Felix exchanged a look, both equally as nervous to fight each other but also motivated to do so.

Sam walked up to Felix to wish him good luck, Robby walking back towards Mar. Mar smiled at him.

"You are one lucky bitch." Mar sighed out with a shake of her head. "Who do you think's gonna win?"

"Honestly, I have no clue." Robby answered the girl as he stood next to her, the two watching as Felix and Miguel made their way to the sparring deck with Daniel. "Felix has been training a lot. He's gotten really good. We practiced together and he beat me. His moves are unpredictable now."
