Chapter 15: Jealousy

So this chapter is a short intro to the second exam.I'm working on the fights and everything so that is going to take awhile so I thought I would post this short little chapter in the meantime:P

Kaori PoV

After we were dismissed for the day I went straight home, with Sasuke escorting me. I like that him walking me home was starting to become a habit. Of course, after the first exam was over Ino and Sakura started whispering and glaring at me. Whatever, I never really liked them anyway. Besides, I don't need their approval to be with their precious 'Sasuke-kun'. He's mine now.

Sasuke walked me to my door and kissed me like a gentleman and I barely made it to my bed before I passed out. I was so not prepared for tomorrow.

~~~~~The Next morning~~~~~~

I woke up feeling really groggy and grumpy. I crawled into the shower and zoned out while mechanically washing my hair. Once I got out I gave a huge yawn and stretched.

"It's...too...earlyyy..." I groaned to myself. I dressed in my usual outfit but took extra care while packing since I knew we were going to the forest of death. I Got a few storage scrolls and put in extra blankets, extra Katanas, some paper bombs and Shuriken. I had also packed some food for the road. I had Ramen, Tomato rice balls, Dango and fruit jell-o. I got the jell-o because Sakura said she liked it in the movie Road To Ninja. Not to mention multiple chocolate bars and a canteen of coffee. I felt really uneasy about the second exam because I didn't have a plan if Orochimaru came after us. My only hope was that my being here would change things.

I put on my backpack and headed to the forty-fourth training ground where the second exam is taking place. Once I get there I notice that all the other ninja that passed the first exam are there, so I scan the crowd for my awkward little trio.

"Yo." I say, holding up a peace sign with a bored expression. Sasuke smirks and Naruto smiles at me while Sakura gives me a dirty look. Honestly, she should just get over it. This part of the exam requires a shit ton of teamwork, so she better hurry up and build a bridge.

"Of course you're late again." Sakura said to me nastily. I rose my eyebrows.

"Well if you came to expect anything else than you're just plain stupid." She grew an anime vein and I smirked before standing with Sasuke and Naruto.

"So guys, What did I miss? Nothing interesting I hope."

"Naw. It was basically just the proctor trying to scare us, and we were given mandatory consent forms to sign. I grabbed one for you." Sasuke handed me the consent form and I smiled at him. He gave me the Uchiha smirk back. I liked it when he really smiled, but he never did it in front of other people and even then it was pretty rare.

"Cool, so we just have to turn these in and get our scrolls yeah?" I asked while messily signing my name...I have really bad hand writing. Iruka used to complain about it all the time, but it isn't my fault that hand writing isn't my first priority.

"...Yeah, but how did you know about the scrolls Kaori-chan? You just got here." Ummm crap...how was Naruto the one to point that out?! I really need to stop saying these sort of things out loud.

"Oh, um...I heard some teams talking about scrolls on my way over here. Hahaha." I nervous laughed. Naruto started nodding like it made sense...I'm honestly surprised he actually believed that. I needed to work on my acting skills.

We all got up and went to the tent where they were handing out the scrolls and turned in our forms in in exchange for an Earth scroll. Sasuke arrogantly took it and kept it for safe keeping. Honestly, why does he get to keep the scroll? We should give it to Sakura. The enemies would never assume we'd give it to our weakest ninja. Speaking of cotton candy...I should probably attempt peace with it before we go into the Forest of Death.

"Yo Sakura." I said, striding up to her.

"What do you want?" She said glaring at me.

"I just wanted to say that you should get over whatever it is that's bothering you about me before we start the second exam. We need to have excellent teamwork and be able to watch each other's backs when we get in there, so we should probably work this out before it becomes a problem." Sakura looked at me incredulously. Look at me being the bigger person and such. I'm proud of myself. Yay me.

"I just don't know why Sasuke-kun chose you!" Sakura looked at me with tears forming in her eyes. I sighed. I tend to do that a lot.

"Well it's obviously because I'm a badass. Also, because I understand him and his past, I don't just go for his good looks or whatever." I rolled my eyes.

"I didn't even think you like him! I thought you liked Shikamaru!" Oh. My. Actual. Fucking. God. Not this nonsense with Shika again.

"NO. I don't like him. And I never liked Sasuke either. I thought he was an emo prick that felt sorry for himself. But, for some reason I actually talked to him in the Land of Waves and I found out that I was wrong. I don't know what exactly changed but now we like each other, so you guys are just going to have to deal with it." I threw my hands up in exasperation. And I looked over at Sakura who was just looking down.

"I'm sorry Sakura, I know you care about him a lot. And it was never my intention to take him away from you. But it was his decision. Do you think you can forgive me?" I put my hand on her shoulder. All of this being sympathetic and swallowing my pride was really painful for me so she better damn appreciate it. I think that was the most I've ever actually said to someone other than Sasuke, so this was a privilege for her.

Sakura nodded and looked up with a small smile. I smiled back and hugged her before making my way to the gate with the other two. Unfortunately I had missed Anko slicing Naruto with a kunai during my talk with Sakura. It was a total bummer since I enjoyed watching Anko do all of her sadistic shit. She was awesome.
