Chapter 21: Problems

Kaori pov

I wake up to the sound of machines beeping and the scent of chloraseptic. I'm in the hospital again then. i sigh and open my eyes, seeing first only the brightness of the sun. I turn my head to the left and see Kakashi reading.

"Oh, so you're finally awake huh?" He says looking up from his book. I don't grace him with a response, but instead just give him a glare. 

Kakashi then tells me the results of the preliminary round and tells me that i'll be fighting some ninja from the village hidden in the snow named Akayuki Shida. Eh, she doesn't sound that strong, she's just from a snow village. 

Also, apparently he's going to start training Sasuke and I in a special jutsu that will give us an upper hand in the next exam. I'm just going to take a wild guess and say it's chidori, which pumps me up. 

"Is Sasuke awake yet?" I ask, trying to keep the eagerness out of my voice."

"No, he's still out. I'm surprised that you're awake right now, considering the strain you put on your body."

"Can I go see him? And before you say no, i'd like you to consider that you going with me to see him right now is safer than me sneaking off later to see him all  by myself." I say with a smirk. Kakashi sweat drops before standing up.

"Come on then, let's go see Sasuke." I move to stand up and start to stumble as my legs give out underneath me. I grab onto the bed frame and see Kakashi move to help me.

"No. I'm fine, I can walk on my own." I say before taking a deep breath and walking to the door on shaky legs.

Once we get to Sasuke's room I collapse into the chair by his bed and examine his face. 

"Wow, he looks like crap." I say, turning to Kakashi. 

"Hmph. You should see yourself." I hear a gruff voice say from the bed behind me. I turn back to see Sasuke's eyes watching me carefully. 

"It's about time you woke up Sasuke." I replied with a smirk. 

"Sasuke, once you feel up to it, i'm going to start training you and Kaori in a secret jutsu that will give you an upperhand in your next fight. Sasuke, i'm going to warn you not to get overexcited when I tell you this, but your opponent for the third exam is going to be-" 

"Gaara of the desert." I say, cutting Kakashi off with a smile. "Which means that your going to have to get off your lazy ass and start training as soon as you can. Because I guarantee that Gaara isn't lying in bed right now." I raise my eyebrow. 

"Hmph." Sasuke says before sitting up and tightening his hand into a fist. "I'm ready to start when you are."

"I woke up ready." I say before standing up. 

"Alright you too, I think that's enough excitement for one day. Kaori, it's time to go back to your room." Kakashi said, grabbing my arm. 

"I'll see you tomorrow." I say, waving.

"yeah." Sasuke says with a little smile. 

Once i'm back to my room I get into bed and fall back asleep almost instantly, with a smile on my face.

 I wake up to the sound of chirping crickets and open my eyes to the soft light of the late moon. I place my feet on the floor and walk towards the window. Hoping to feel some of the night breeze in this stifling room. I look out at the moon and take a few deep breaths. I feel...calm.

That is, until my eye is caught by some movement on one of the roofs to the left. I look over and see Gaara and Dosu standing on opposite sides of the roof. oh wow,I guess I get to watch Gaara kill. How interesting. 

It starts with Dosu charging Gaara, but just as quick as it starts, it's over. That's because Gaara's sand quickly caught Dosu and crushed him. I started clapping slowly until Gaara turned around and looked me in the eyes. I held a finger to my lips and turned around before going back to bed.

The next morning I woke up feeling a weight on my chest.  I glanced down to see Shikamaru asleep there. I sighed and started poking him in the face.

"Hmmm? why are you waking me up? ugh." Shikamaru said before rubbing his face and sitting up.

"Why are you complaining? you're the one who came here to see me." I said with a smirk.

"I can complain all i want you troublesome woman." 

"Yeah, well you disrupted a perfectly good nap by laying on me you weirdo." 

"Hmph. Well if you can talk like that then you must be fine." He replied, smirking. 

"Well, i'm sure you're just so excited to be fighting a girl in the next exam. We all know how fond of them you are. And I hear she's spunky, a plus for you." I say with a snort. His face automatically becomes pained as he groans, then sighs. 

"I really hate you, you know."

"Nope, you love me." I say with a smile.

This was just a short, kinda transitional chapter. SO, don't worry the next one should be up by tomorrow!
