Chapter 38 Pack Hunt

(Good news readers my cuz helped me get past my complicated scene!by refreshing my memory of what I planned on doing in the first place! So enjoy!)

"Ok to make up for lost time I am going to teach you how to hunt, wolf style."

"We are wolves tho."

"Yes,but you don't know the way of hunting I do. Come on follow me."

*I went through the door I had my full strength back and I was ready to have the connection of a pack hunt again.*

"Ok first lesson of hunting, you will need to shift to keep up."

*Everybody shifted into their wolves I squat down onto the ground and popped my hip joint up so I could propel myself in the hunt.*

'Ok James,will you do the honors of finding the elk or carabu?'

'Sure.'

*James started to sniff around then turned back to me and I gave a nod he took up my left side as I took the lead along with Alaxander on my right. Delilah was behind James and Drake and Rachel were behind Alexander,but beside each other. I slowed down and we were downwind from the elk. I looked them over and found another weak bull. It was a good first time hunt for newbies.*

'Half of you take the left flank the other the right. Heard them over by that cliff. They won't be able to go anywhere and we can single the older elk out once we are running.'

'Got it. James and I will take the left flank.'

'I will join you then.'

'Ok that leaves Rachel Drake and Alaxander for the right. Get into position once you hear the signal then go and start your flanking.'

*I lead James and Delilah into position and Alaxander lead Drake and Rachel into position I let out a howl and the elk perked up and started to run and we ran after. I snapped at an elk that tried to get away from me and I kept them in line. I felt my body shifting as I ran and it shifted into my wolf sized fox a combo of Ash and Snow. Delilah and James slowed for a second seeing my change, but caught up quickly. I finally got sight of the older bull elk and latched onto his leg injuring him further to separate him from the herd. Alexander came crossing over from the right flank and we surrounded the elk.*

'Watch the hoofs and antlers!'

*The bull elk was kicking out at us and trying to ram us with his horns. He flung his head up in the air Alaxander and I had the same idea we jumped for his throat bringing him down.James,Delilah,Drake and Rachel held the elk down as we brought it down swiftly. Everyone shifted back and threw on some clothes.*

"The last step of a bonding pack hunt is joining in on the kill. We won't eat it here tho we can bring it back and make stew,jerkey,steak and whatever else you can cook with the meat. We not only helped the Eco system,but bonded over the hunt. We have to all play a part in the kill. James tracked it down. We all flanked them to herd them. Delilah, Rachel,James,and Drake held the elk still so Alexander and I could make the kill without getting killed."

"I never realized how much teamwork it takes to do a hunt until I did one and I still find it hard to believe we even did it without sustaining any injuries and you even did it without getting hurt."

"Oh no,I have plenty of scares from hunts,Rachel lots and lots of scares."

*They all just shook their heads at my response and broke out laughing.*

"What?"

"Nothing."

"Let's get the elk back before it starts to bloat and rigor-mortis sets in."

"Riga what?"

"The decaying process, four people take a leg the rest the body."

*We brought the elk back to the pack house and we started to make a stew out of some of the elk and the rest was turned into jerky. Some of the elk was left from my last kill so we tossed it into the stew after we unthawed it from the freezer. We invite the whole pack for some stew and it was a mini party. Once everybody left Rachel and Drake had to go back to their pack and Rachel was going to tell Drake her news about them being parents. I walked upstairs and made it only halfway to the bed before I just collapsed on the ground from utter exostion. I could faintly hear Alexander walking up the stairs and I was curled up in the middle of the floor asleep. Alexander came over and into the room and picked me up and carried me over to the bed. I faintly knew what was happening,but before I knew it I was enveloped in his warmth and I fell asleep to his heart beat as my breathing began to slow down as well as my heart.*
