When Yash returned to his room after dinner, he noticed Saanvi already lying in bed with her eyes closed. This wasn’t typical of her, and a wave of concern washed over him as he quietly locked the door from the inside.
“Saanvi?” he called softly, settling down beside her.
At the sound of his voice, Saanvi instinctively shifted closer, wrapping herself in his arms and resting her head against his chest. His fingers found their way into her hair, stroking it gently without a second thought.
“Tumhari tabiyat thik hai na?” he asked, his voice laced with worry.
“Haan baba, sab thik hai. Bas mann kiya ki aaj tumhe pakad ke soyu,” she whispered, breathing in his familiar scent—the one scent that could always steady her racing mind and soothe her heart.
Un knowing to her, tears welled up, shimmering unshed in her eyes.
“Pata nahi, mujhe aise kyun lag raha hai ki kuch baat hai jo tum mujhe chupa rahi ho, Saanvi. Kya mom ne tumhe job ke baare mein kuch kaha ya phir—”
His words trailed off as he glanced down, only to find her already asleep, clinging to his shirt as if it were a lifeline. A soft smile touched his lips as he watched her innocent face, a hint of relief smoothing his furrowed brows.
He carefully shifted, turning to his side to pull her even closer. Saanvi instinctively buried her face in the crook of his neck, seeking the warmth and comfort only he could provide.
In moments, sleep claimed him as well, holding her protectively in his embrace.
Next morning Yash and his father went out as they have some work related to bank. So asusual Kavita and Saanvi is alone at home.
Saanvi saw that her mother in law is talking with someone in phone and that too from such a long time.
She even asked Saanvi to manage today's lunch course.
When she finally cut the call, she asked her to meet her once in her room. She wants to tell something important.
Her mind gets blank remembering their last night conversation.
Saanvi's POV:-
What if she again ask about the baby topic ?? Kya kahungi ab jaake?? Kal raat toh papa aur Yash aa gaye thein, toh baat wahi tham gayi ..aj kya kahungi??
Author's POV:-
Nothing is coming in her mind.
When she heard Kavita again asking, 'Beta ho gayi kaam??'
'Haa bas ho hi gayi' she shouts .
'Haa khatam karke ek minute aana kamre mein'.
'Ji mom' she responded.
When she reaches her room after few minutes, she saw her mother in law is folding the dried clothes of hers.
'Aja beta..baeth mere paas' she asked while patting the bed.
Saanvi nods giving a nervous smile.
'Tu batayegi kya hua ?? Kal mein puchne wali thi par Mahir aur Yash aa gaye thein isliye nahi puchi ' she asked holding her hand
She shook her head , 'Kuch nahi hua mom..kya hoga??' she said in her casual tone but only she knew what she is feeling inside.
She took a deep breath before asking, 'Dekh beta mein maa hu ..mujhe pata hoti hai kab kya mere bacho k dimaag mein chal rahi h'
'Tum dono k shaadi k ek saal ho gaye hain..abhi bhi tum log bache k liye ready nahi ho?? Kyu beta?? Tum log toh financially bhi bhagwan k aashirwad se bilkul thik hain..phir kya baat hain??'
Saanvi stammers,as tears gathers in her eyes,
'Asa nahi hai mom...hum kuch saal k baad baby planning k baare mein sochenge..hum dono abhi ready nahi hain'
She looks away feeling embarrassed as what type of questions her mother in law is asking for.
Kavita leaned in, her tone softening but still persistent. “Ek baat bolo mujhe, beta… tumhe maa banne ki ichha nahi hai? Mere munna ko chhodo, tum toh aurat ho… tumhe apna bacha nahi chahiye?”
Saanvi's vision blurred as tears pooled in her eyes. YES… A BIG YES. SHE TOO WANTED TO BECOME A MOTHER, TO HAVE HER OWN CHILD, HER AND YASH'S CHILD.
“Tum toh Yash ko samjha sakti ho. Tum uski biwi ho na? Tumhare liye yeh bohot asaan hai,” Kavita said, searching Saanvi’s eyes for an answer.
But Saanvi remained silent, staring down at her trembling hands.
“Isi karan maine ek doctor se bhi baat ki hai!” Kavita added, handing Saanvi a card. The revelation left Saanvi stunned.
She stood abruptly, unable to stomach the direction of the conversation.
Kavita nodded toward the card in Saanvi’s hand. “Tu chahe toh is lady doctor se baat bhi kar sakti hai… yeh tujhe bohot ideas dengi iss sab cheez ke baare mein, kaise tu—”
“MOMMMMM!”
A loud voice roared from the doorway, making both women flinch. They turned to see Yash standing there, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Yash,” Saanvi whispered, her voice quivering as their eyes met.
She quickly hides the card into her dupatta.
Kavita’s face paled, realizing that her son had overheard their conversation.
