Author's POV:-

"Mom!!!"

A loud voice roared from the doorway, causing both women to flinch in their places.

Seeing Yash standing there, Saanvi quickly hid the card inside her dupatta.

But luck wasn’t on her side—he had already heard everything.

"Yash..." Saanvi whispered as she saw him coming toward her.

"What are you hiding? Dikhao mujhe," he demanded, taking the card from her hand.

She tried to snatch it back. "It’s nothing, Yash..." she muttered, shaking her head as tears fell from her eyes.

Ignoring her words, he looked at his mother in disbelief.

Kavita got up, trying to calm her son. "Munna, this is—"

He cut her off angrily. "What is this, Mom?! How dare you ask my wife such questions?!"

Yash tore the card to pieces in frustration, throwing it to the floor.

Kavita gasped. "Beta, I was just... I only asked Saanvi out of curiosity—"

"I heard, Mom... I heard everything you were asking her," he said, tears forming in his eyes.

"The questions you’re asking, they’re private matters between a husband and wife. Personal questions. You have no right to interfere in such sensitive, personal issues."

Kavita shook her head. "Beta, you’re misunderstanding. I didn’t mean it that way... It’s been a year since you both got married. Isn’t it time to think about children?"

Saanvi looked down, embarrassed. She felt this was all happening because of her.

"So what, Mom? Whether it’s been a year or ten, at the end of the day, we’ll be the parents, right? So shouldn’t the decision be ours?" he asked, slipping his hand into Saanvi’s trembling fingers.

She looked up at him as he gently rubbed his thumb over her palm.

"Don’t we have our own desires, too? Don’t we also wish to have grandchildren one day?" Kavita asked, her voice softening.

"All I did was ask your wife about it, and now I’m the bad guy?"

Saanvi shook her head, trying to calm her mother-in-law.

"No, Mom, you’re misunderstanding... Yash didn’t mean it like that."

"Mom, you weren’t just asking; you were practically forcing her about having a child," he replied, a sad smile on his face.

"As a husband till now I’ve never pressured her about anything like this, because in the end, she’s the one who has to carry the child. She’ll be the one enduring all the pain to bring that baby into the world. I can only support her—I can’t take away her pain, can I? Aap toh maa hain na ...aap ko toh aur ache se pata hain inn sab cheez k baare mein. I didn't expect this from you".

Kavita is now out of words.

Saanvi is just looking at her husband with love. Her eyes is full of tears.

"Yes, I understand that you both have dreams of becoming grandparents.Apko bhi pota poti chahiye. When the right time comes, you’ll get the good news on your own."

Kavita looked away.

"That’s enough, Yash, please..." Saanvi said, grabbing his arm as a sob escaped her lips.

"I never thought I’d see the day when my son would talk to his mother like this," Kavita said, her gaze shifting to Saanvi.

"Aap mere mom hain, isliye tameez se baat kar raha hu. If it were anyone else in your place, you couldn’t imagine what I’d do," Yash said firmly as wrapped his hand around her shoulder in support.

"Kehate hain na ek aurat hi aurat k dushman hote hain...bilkul sahi h' he said

'Munna!!' Kavita gasped in shock.

'I thought that by coming here, both you and Saanvi would feel happy , could spend some good times... but no, I was wrong. I thought you had changed—that you’d accepted Saanvi... but no," he shook his head.

"How could you accept Saanvi when you never liked her in the first place? You always wanted the perfect daughter-in-law," he added sarcastically.

"But how do I explain to you that I don’t want a perfect girl... I just want Saanvi. I love her, and I always will."

He looked at his wife, wiping her tears away. He shook his head telling her to not cry anymore.

Kavita turned away, unable to deny the truth of his words. She still hadn’t been able to fully accept Saanvi as her daughter-in-law.

"Let’s go from here. No matter how much you try, Mom will never truly accept you... Chalo yaha se..," he said, pulling Saanvi out of the room with him.

Kavita looked back at their retreating figure.
