>>>><Season 1 Finale><<<<
The largest phantom we had ever beheld was Towering behind us, an entity radiating a menacing aura. Its empty eye sockets and menacing rows of jagged teeth suggested an undeniably lethal presence.
I clutched the steering wheel with a white-knuckled grip, my heart pounding in my chest.
I could feel the warmth drain from my face, leaving me cold and ghostly pale as dread settled in.Tyler spoke after a few moments of stunned silence. "..There's no way any of our lights are strong enough to do any real damage to that thing..."
He was right. Something that big would only feel a tingle from our lights.
Logan tried to mutter up a sentence, trying to keep his calm (And was obviously failing..)
"S-Should I try shooting it?!"
"Not yet! We could end up attracting more!"As I glanced ahead, the landscape shifted dramatically, revealing towering rock pillars that loomed ominously in the distance. What the hell is happening?!
"Ashlyn, we need to turn around! We're going to end up lost and run into more of these things!"
"I know, I know!"
"It's getting closer!"My heart is racing like crazy, pounding against my chest as if trying to break free. Each beat echoes in my ears, drowning out everything else around me. The adrenaline rush surges through my veins, heightening my senses and filling me with an intense energy.
It's a wild, chaotic rhythm that speaks of both fear and exhilaration, leaving me on the edge of my seat.
I gritted my teeth, muscles tensing as I swerved around the towering rock pillar. My heart raced, pounding in my chest like a war drum. "Screw it!" I shouted, the words spilling out in a mix of adrenaline and defiance. The giant phantom smashed a leg right next to the Jeep.
"Is everyone okay?!""The door is banged up pretty bad, but none of us are hurt!"
Good... No one was hurt yet.
Ugh! These freaking roots and cars! There was a large bump as we hit a root, and a swerve.Suddenly, I heard a sharp click cut through the air.
A click? Why was there a click?
A chilling unease settled over me as I tried to process the sound.Looking over, I saw Tyler hit the busted door and tumbled out.
Ben had to hold Taylor back to keep her from jumping out after him. "TYLER!!"He slammed against the pavement then the cold grass as the car sped past, a desperate cry escaping his lips."GO BACK, ASHLYN! GO BACK!!" Panic gripped me, and I shouted back, "I can't!" The urgency of her plea clashed with the rising fear in my chest
As the chaos unfolded, my mind raced with dread and uncertainty. I felt trapped, torn between saving Tyler and escaping the phantom's wrath. What if I made the wrong choice? Every instinct screamed at me to go back, yet I knew that hesitation could cost us dearly.
The click echoed ominously in my thoughts, a reminder that danger lurked just beyond the edges of our fragile safety.
We were all in a nightmare, teetering on the edge of something catastrophic, and I had to focus. Whatever happened next, I needed to stay in control and find a way to protect my friends before it was too late. My mind racing with thoughts of what to do next.
But if one thing was painfully clear: Tyler was gone.
