As I roamed around, trying to figure out if this was a dream, everything looked just like reality... except for the sky, which was an unsettling shade of blood-red for some reason.
At least it wasn't a nightmare... or was it? Maybe the 'mare' part was still on its way.
I nearly stumbled, but managed to catch myself in time. Then, suddenly, I found myself back on the bus.
Ugh. I really can't stand these lucid dreams. They make everything feel disturbingly real. I settled into one of the seats, letting out a sigh of relief. But out of nowhere, a sharp slap hit my face, followed by faint words whispering, "Wake up!"
That actually hurt.
My arm still ached from earlier, and now I noticed a dried, bloody mark on it. Just then, I felt a tug on my leg. When I looked down, there it was—the same creature from the Sorrel house.
I fell out of bed, crashing onto the floor. "Ack!"
Taylor stirred from the noise.
"Ashlyn? Why are you on the floor?" she asked, her voice still thick with sleep."Ah, yeah, I'm okay... Just got a bit startled.""What happened to your arm?"
I looked at her in confusion before glancing at my arm, now covered in scratches and bloody marks. Where did those come from?
"Need help getting up?" Taylor asked, already off the bed before I could respond.
"I'm fine, but I might need some band—" I froze mid-sentence when I saw what was hiding under the blanket.
Both Taylor and I screamed in horror. It didn't take long for Tyler to burst through the door to check on Taylor, while Aiden got smacked in the nose by the door, Ben stood beside him, and Logan was still groggily waking up.I kicked the creature in the face, temporarily knocking it out.
"I-Isn't that thing from the Sorrel house?" Taylor asked, her whole body trembling.
"It doesn't matter right now. We need to get out of here before it wakes up!" I grabbed her arm, pulling her toward the door.
"Wait, what about the others—?"
"They would've woken up when we screamed."So why aren't they out here yet...?
