Summary: you're in a "private" relationship with Mattheo.
Y/N had never felt more alone.
She walked through the empty corridors of Hogwarts in the dead of night, her footsteps echoing off the stone walls, but the sounds only made her feel more isolated. Her heart pounded, each beat filled with a mix of anger, hurt, and something much worse: rejection. The memory of Mattheo Riddle's cruel words played over and over in her mind like a haunting chant. "She's just someone I've been partnered up with for Potions."
She had never felt more invisible.
Y/N had always known she was different. The only half-blood in Slytherin, a house that prided itself on blood purity, she had long learned to keep her head down, avoid attention, and tolerate the snide comments that followed her wherever she went. Her chubby figure, quiet nature, and lack of the kind of family history most Slytherins boasted made her an easy target. But none of that had mattered when Mattheo had come into her life.
Mattheo had been her escape, her haven in the storm of ridicule. She had found herself drawn to him since their first encounter in the library, a quiet yet intense connection that neither of them had fully understood. Over time, their friendship blossomed into something more. He had been kind to her when no one else had, showing a side of himself that no one saw. He had protected her from the other Slytherins' jabs, made her laugh, and listened to her in a way no one else ever did.
But none of that mattered now. He'd shattered her heart with a few careless words, and the worst part? She didn't know if he even cared that he'd done it.
It had started off like any other night. They were walking together, a quiet, comfortable silence between them, when Mattheo's friends had appeared. Theo, Lorenzo, and the others, laughing and joking as they strolled down the hallway, completely oblivious to the delicate tension between Mattheo and Y/N.
"Oi, Riddle!" Theo had called out, his eyes lighting up with mischief. "What's this, then? A secret rendezvous with the quiet girl from Potions?"
Y/N had stiffened immediately, the laughter in their voices only amplifying the sense of isolation that had already taken root in her chest. She had hoped—foolishly—that Mattheo would stand up for her, or at least acknowledge her in front of his friends. But instead, Mattheo had glanced at her, his face momentarily softening before his usual, indifferent mask slipped back into place.
"Yeah, she's just someone I've been partnered up with for Potions," he had said, his voice casual, like it meant nothing.
The words had hit her like a slap across the face. Just someone. It was as if he had completely disregarded everything they had shared in the privacy of their late-night conversations, in the quiet spaces where they had allowed themselves to be themselves. It stung more than she cared to admit, but she had kept her face blank. She wasn't going to cry in front of them. She wasn't going to give them the satisfaction.
Theo and the others had laughed, egging Mattheo on. "Right, sure, Riddle. Bet you wouldn't even take her to the Yule Ball, would you?"
Mattheo had just shrugged, the words leaving his lips as easily as if they were nothing. "She's not really my type."
And with that, the laughter had continued, the mockery thick in the air, and Y/N had turned and walked away. She hadn't cared where she was going. All she had wanted was to escape. Escape the hurt, escape the humiliation, and escape the boy who had made her feel small, insignificant.
Days had passed since that night, and Y/N hadn't spoken to Mattheo. He had tried to reach out to her, of course, sending her notes and trying to catch her alone in the halls. But she had ignored him. She didn't need more empty apologies.

FanfictionI will be putting warnings in all chapters, what house you are in, etc. I really am trying to make the plots good but I'm not very good at grammar. If I get an idea from a creator I will tag them. I change between "I" and "you" in different chapters...
