The warm hum of laughter and chatter filled the Slytherin common room as the annual "Friendsgiving" party unfolded. Strings of enchanted fairy lights danced along the ceiling, casting a golden glow over the room. You'd been nervous when Mattheo invited you to join his close-knit group of friends for the evening. They were a tight circle of Slytherins—witty, cunning, and intimidating.
But Mattheo had insisted.
"Come on, Y/N," he'd said, brushing a strand of hair from your face earlier that evening. "You're my world. They need to see that."
Now, standing at the edge of the bustling room, you felt the weight of their gazes as Mattheo introduced you to the group.
"This is Y/N," Mattheo announced with a proud smile, his arm wrapped protectively around your waist.
You forced a polite smile as Pansy Parkinson, Theodore Nott, Draco Malfoy, Astoria Greengrass, Lorenzo "Enzo" Berkshire, and Blaise Zabini assessed you.
"Y/N," Pansy repeated with a saccharine smile, her eyes darting up and down your figure. "Mattheo's talked about you... so much."
"Non-stop, really," Astoria added with a smirk. "We were starting to think he was exaggerating."
The tightness in your chest grew as their comments layered on. Theodore gave you a small nod, and Blaise offered a polite "Welcome," but the tension from Pansy and Astoria was palpable.
"Do you go to all of Mattheo's parties, or is this a special occasion?" Pansy asked sweetly, sipping her goblet of wine.
"I... don't usually," you admitted, heat rising to your cheeks. "But Mattheo thought it'd be nice to meet everyone."
"How cute," Astoria murmured, sharing a knowing glance with Pansy.
You tried to laugh it off, but their subtle jabs kept coming—about your outfit, your house, even how Mattheo must've "softened" since dating you. The others didn't outright join in, but they didn't step in either.
At one point, Pansy leaned closer, her tone dropping to a mock whisper. "You know, it's hard to believe Mattheo would go for someone so... sweet. He's always had a thing for someone with more edge."
That was it. You could feel the tears burning in your eyes. Before you could humiliate yourself by crying in front of them, you muttered a quick excuse and slipped out of the room.
The crisp November air stung your cheeks as you stumbled outside, finally letting the tears fall. You sank onto a cold stone bench near the Black Lake, your heart aching.
How could Mattheo's friends be so cruel? Did he even know how they treated you?
"Y/N!"
You froze at the sound of Mattheo's voice. Turning, you saw him jogging toward you, his brow furrowed in concern. He crouched in front of you, his hands gently taking yours.
"Why did you leave like that?" he asked softly, his dark eyes searching yours.
"I—" You bit your lip, looking away. "I didn't want to ruin your night."
"Ruin my night?" His voice sharpened. "You're my night, Y/N. What happened?"
You hesitated, but the vulnerability in his gaze gave you courage. "Your friends," you admitted, voice trembling. "They... they don't like me. Pansy and Astoria—"

FanfictionI will be putting warnings in all chapters, what house you are in, etc. I really am trying to make the plots good but I'm not very good at grammar. If I get an idea from a creator I will tag them. I change between "I" and "you" in different chapters...
