The air in the Room of Requirement was heavy, a palpable tension swirling around Y/N as she paced back and forth. She had hoped for a quiet place to think, but now the silence was suffocating. Mattheo Riddle had been distant lately, and it was driving her mad.
She remembered the way he used to smile at her, the way his laughter echoed through the hallways like music. But now, it felt as if a wall had risen between them, forged from secrets and shadows.
With a soft creak, the door opened, and there he stood—Mattheo, his expression unreadable. "Y/N," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Why are you avoiding me?" she blurted out, her heart racing.
"I'm not," he replied too quickly, a hint of defensiveness in his tone.
"Yes, you are!" Y/N shot back, frustration bubbling over. "You've been shutting me out. I can't just pretend everything's fine."
He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture she knew too well. "You wouldn't understand."
"Try me," she urged, stepping closer, desperation creeping into her voice. "I'm here for you, Mattheo. You don't have to carry this alone."
A flicker of something—fear, maybe—crossed his face before he hardened his gaze. "You think you know me? You don't know what it's like. The weight of my name... the expectations. I can't drag you into that."
"Then let me decide!" Y/N pleaded, feeling tears prick at her eyes. "I care about you, and I don't want to lose you because of your pride."
He looked away, the shadows in the room deepening around him. "You don't get it. I'm not good for you. I'll ruin everything."
"Stop saying that!" She stepped forward, grabbing his arm, her voice shaking. "You're not just your family name. You're more than that. You're brave and brilliant, and you mean so much to me."
For a moment, silence enveloped them, the weight of her words hanging in the air. Then, without warning, Mattheo broke. "I'm scared, Y/N," he admitted, his voice cracking. "Scared of becoming what everyone expects me to be. Scared of losing you if I do."
Y/N's heart ached at his vulnerability. "Then fight it. Fight for us."
He looked down, guilt etching lines across his forehead. "I don't know if I can."
"Then let me help you," she whispered, gently cupping his face. "We'll face it together. I won't let you go."
But as he looked into her eyes, Y/N saw the battle raging within him. The struggle between light and darkness, between hope and despair. "I wish it were that simple," he murmured, stepping back, breaking their connection.
"Mattheo, please..."
"I need time," he said, his voice distant. "Time to figure this out. I don't want to drag you down with me."
With those final words, he turned and walked away, leaving Y/N standing alone in the dim light of the Room of Requirement. The ache in her chest grew, a hollow reminder of what they could have been, and the fear of what might come next loomed larger than ever.

FanfictionI will be putting warnings in all chapters, what house you are in, etc. I really am trying to make the plots good but I'm not very good at grammar. If I get an idea from a creator I will tag them. I change between "I" and "you" in different chapters...
