The next morning Amy woke up and felt the bed next to her was empty. She felt around for Emma but came up empty. Her eyes reluctantly opened, when her hands landed on a note. It was still dark, so Amy reached for her phone to read the note, in hopes of not waking up her husband and son.
Aims-
Went for a run to clear my head. Be back soon.

Amy frowned and flipped over to the girl's life 360. She knew better than to leave the house without getting the okay from her or Hunter. It was only five-thirty, it was dark, and the snow was supposed to start coming down hard soon. Woods surrounded the little house, and it wasn't safe for Emma to be out alone in the woods. She wasn't sure what was going on with their girl, but they were going to have a coming to Jesus meeting when she got back. When she saw that Emma had disconnected her location, she panicked. Amy stood up and looked out the window to see if Emma's jeep was there.
"Hunter!" she said sharply, turning to wake her husband.
"What's wrong?" he asked groggily.
"Emma's not here and neither is her car." Amy was already throwing her jeans on.
"Did you check the app?"
"Yes, she disconnected from it."
Hunter growled at that. She definitely knew better. He reached over to grab his phone before calling Emma. He growled again when he went straight to voicemail.
"Emma Charlotte Brooks. It is about to dump snow! You turn yourself around and get back to the house, right now. Call me back then turn around." Hunter scolded. The man stood up, avoiding waking up the little boy. He grabbed his own jeans to throw on. "Where's my belt?"
Amy bit her lip, knowing this was going to spark a conversation. She walked over to the nightstand and grabbed it, handing it to Hunter.
"Why was this over there? Did you whoop her last night?"
Amy sat down on the bed, and Hunter couldn't help but smirk at her attempt to hide her bottom without being obvious. "I gave her a couple of swats."
"With the belt?" Hunter asked surprised.
Amy quickly ran through the night's events with him. Hunter shook his head. "We need to talk about your family. When I get back, I want to leave." He said, throwing on a thick sweatshirt.
"H..."
"No Amy Grace. We let your dad back into our lives, even though he was abusive when you were younger because he stopped drinking. Then it was well it's only a couple drinks and now he is getting drunk and being aggressive with our kids. I understand it's hard to set boundaries with family, so I'm gonna set them for you."
"And if I disobey and stay?" Amy asked.
"Then I will leave your car for you and take the kids home in Emma's jeep." Hunter told her. "Then when you come home Saturday, I will make sure the kids are in bed, and I will meet you with the strap for disobeying and the overspending."
Amy frowned at him. "The kids would stay with me."
"Negative." Hunter said, sitting on the bed to put his shoes on. "The only reason I am leaving Niko here with you is because the roads are about to be unsafe."
"You're being a dick." Amy growled.
Hunter looked up at his wife. "I do not want to say something that I will regret while I am this upset. I love you. Keep your phone on you." He stood up and kissed the top of her head. "Please do not let Niko out of your sight and have everything packed so I can just toss it in the car."
