ALEX'S POV

Today is my last day alone with Jasper before we take Oliver home with us. Before we become a family for good, and quite honestly before we start a new chapter of our lives together, one that will be like no other. I can't wait. I've never felt like this with anybody in my entire life, to have somebody own every part of my heart the way he does, no partner in the past comes close to it. The only love that goes deeper than it does for him, is for my children.

And on that matter, I have learned from Kessler that the proceedings around this court trail taking place are in motion now. And I'll fight for Sadie to be home with us no matter the cost, or however long it takes. Veronica can sit on her throne of bullshit for now, but I'll personally be the one when this court trial eventually comes—to break her down into the nothing she deserves. I'll watch with a smile on my damn face as she realizes she isn't the clever fox she's always thought herself to be.

I take a deep breath, trying my best expel the sour thoughts of the woman from my brain.

Today is about Jasper, it's about finally being able to take him out without feeling like somebody is watching us over our shoulders. It's for him to be able to experience a real date with me, one that will leave his heart happy, and not fluttering with anxiety. To end the night in bliss, together.

I finish straightening out my paperwork, before tucking it, alongside my laptop, away for the day. I decided to start early, so I'd be done by noon, leaving me with the perfect amount of time to go shower with Jas, and surprise him with going out for the day together.

Happily I walk out of my office, and up the stairs, stopping at Oliver's nursery. Knocking on the edge of the walkway before stepping inside. I notice Jas sitting in the new rocking chair in the corner I had delivered yesterday, scrolling his phone, his eyes flickering up to me.

A smile stretches across my lips as I step further into the now completed nursery.

"What are you up to in here, my love?" I ask.

"I was making sure all Oliver's clothes were put away for when he comes here tomorrow, but once I finished that I kinda just sat down, and didn't feel like getting back up." He chuckles, and I hold out my hand towards him.

Taking ahold of it, he slips his phone into his pocket, and I gently tug him up from the chair. I wrap my arms around his waist, pulling him close to me. "You're perfect, you know that?" I mumble into his neck, before placing a soft kiss on it. His body shudders softly to my touch, and I find my arms hugging just a tad tighter around him.

"Th-thank you." He whispers back, and I smile wide.

"Did you just accept a compliment, Jas?" I tease, placing a few more light kisses along his jaw and up to his cheek.

"M-maybe," he says breathlessly as I continue my barrage against his skin, feeling his arms wrapping firmly around my neck.

"What would you like to do today my love? It is our last day alone together. Maybe we should make it special?" I half suggest, hoping he will give his typical response.

"I'm—not sure, I didn't have anything planned—"

"—perfect, because I do." I immediately interject, and this beautiful man lets out a deep laugh.
