ALEX'S POV
God—having Jasper here, and out of that damn hospital, feels better than any amount of sleep or fresh air ever would. I could only tolerate watching so many more re runs of jersey shore before I actually lost any and all sanity I had left.
Not only that, but I could tell Jas was getting to his wits end, and barely getting any sleep by the end of it, which made it all the more frustrating staying.
The worst part about leaving though, and I can agree with Jasper on it, was not being able to have our son some home with us. While I tried my best to keep it all together in front of my boyfriend, for his sake, I can definitely say behind closed doors that my mess of a brain was running a bit rampant.
With trying to keep up with work, making sure Jas is taken care of, and that we spent every moment we could seeing Oliver, I've been running on empty for more than a few days now... But, at least tonight we can sleep our bed, and tomorrow morning we will be heading back to the hospital.
"Hey, how did I not know you have a record player?" Jas calls out, his voice coming from my new office area.
We've been chipping away together with unpacking the boxes downstairs. I told him to go into my new office, knowing there wouldn't be anything too heavy for him.
Getting up from my current box in the kitchen, I start walking his way, through the living room and to the left side of the condo. Jas sits in the doorway, and I smile at him. His hair has grown out rather long, almost touching his eyes before he swoops it off to the side, and his face has a bit of stubble wrapped around his jaw. He's beautifully unkept, just the way I like him. I lean forward to place an all too quick, but soft kiss on his lips, and his mouth begins to form a small against mine as I gently wrap my arms around him.
"I had a storage unit after I moved out of my old house, and I figured that I might as well take some of it out to help fill the area. I never bothered with the apartment, because—well, I guess I didn't really care all too much about decorating, aside from the pictures of Sadie."
This time is different though, I want this place—even if it isn't our forever home, to feel like home for him. I want my sweet boyfriend to be able to decorate as he pleases, and for him to be able to make this rather large area feel more "lived in".
"But," I continue, "I want this to feel like home for you, and so I thought maybe showing you some of the possessions I hold close to my heart might help."
I remember from all the times that I visited Jas's old apartment, that even though he never had many pictures, there was still small things around to liven up the place. I also remember him mentioning when we first met, and got to know each other better, that he enjoys drawing. I'm hoping with the space now that maybe he will be able to pick back up on that hobby.
Lost in my thoughts I hadn't noticed now that Jasper has been staring both lovingly and completely silently at me.
"What?" I ask, without really thinking.
Letting out a small chuckle, he places a hand on the side of my face, and pulls it down just an inch away from his.
"I love you," he whispers, before connecting those soft lips of his to mine, melding them together perfectly.
"I love you more," I mumble against his lips, fighting every urge of my being to keep this kiss as only a kiss. I've missed him in more ways than one, but there will snow in the Sahara desert before I make any sort of move on this man before he's healed.
My hand remains firm planted at the small of his back, while the other gently brushes against his arm, traveling upward, before cupping the side of his face. It's been weeks since I've been able to have him this close, to feel his hands against my skin. I wish I could pause the fucking universe to just keep us here longer, to have his warmth on my body as I hold him gently against myself.
