chapter two
sage in the background

"NO DUDE, ZOOM IN MORE, NO — to the right not the left!" nate said to his brother jason, while he was was on the phone with shane.

"okay there!" he said, "are you zoomed to the right shane?" nate asked.

"yeah, what am i looking at?" shane said. "the girl in the brown boots and the dress, who is that?" nate asked.

"uh, is she smiling?" shane asked. "yes! her!" nate said.

"oh that's sage dean. she's knew at camp this year." shane said. "her dads like an owner of a music label or something, in europe."

"woah, europe? she's so pretty." nate said. "are we talking about that tree because it's gorgeous!" jason said.

"no, the girl. nate is obsessing over her." shane said. "i'm not, i was laughing at the photo of you until i saw her in the back." nate said.

"you should come to camp rock and meet her?" shane said. "oh no way, i'm not doing that." nate said.

"who knows, maybe she's the girl with the voice. i'll steal her from you." shane said.

"don't forget why you're at the camp." nate said, annoyed by his brother's words. "how's my birdhouse coming along?" jason suddenly said.

"i'm not making you a birdhouse jason, gosh!" shane said. "aw man." jason said slouching.

"i gotta go, see you guys soon." shane said, even though he was going to go back to his bed. "alright, see you saturday." nate said.

"see you saturday."

shane hung up the call, turning around swiftly when he bumped into sage. she had sheet music in her hand, all of it flying out when shane hit her.

"woah, i'm sorry." shane said, the papers flying everywhere. "my music!" sage said, not acknowledging shane.

shane and sage worked together to pick all the papers up, sage sighing. "i don't even know these go in." she said, looking at the papers.

"wait, these are drum sheet music. you play the drums?" shane said. "yeah, couldn't tell by the drumsticks in my back pocket?" sage said.

shane looked at the pink drumsticks that were peaking out, nodding at them. "my brother nate plays the drums too." shane said.

"and i'm supposed to know him?" sage said. "we're in a band...connect 3?" shane said.

sage thought back, hearing that name before. aha, her dad used to talk about them all the time. they were the nephews of brown, and used to attend camp rock before they became a worldwide sensation.

"right! not a fan, sorry." sage said. "really? so i can talk to you without being threatened to be snitched on to the press?" shane said.

"yup." sage smiled. if she got close with the nephew of the camp owner, she was a step closer to her goal. eliminate camp rock.

"well i'm shane." shane said. "i'm sage." sage said. "it's your first year right?" shane asked.

"yeah. seeing how comfortable you are i'm guessing you've been here for a while." sage said.

"yeah, i'm just back for the year." shane said. "cool."

"are you performing at the campfire jam tonight?" shane asked.

"um, probably not." sage said. "so what's that's for?" shane said as he walked next to sage, gesturing to her papers.

"oh these are for sander and barron. we're singing a song together for final jam. well their rapping, i'm just drumming and singing the background vocals." sage said.

"final jam already? we have so many more to go." shane said "if we wanna win gotta start early." sage said.

"okay, you have drive i see." shane said. "don't we all." sage said, smiling and walking to go to her cabin.

she sighed as she finally got her alone time back, looking through the sheet music. sage was writing a song for final jam with sander and barron, but they hadn't even started yet.

the real thing that we're on the other five papers of the sheet music sage was carrying as a disgusted actually was actually the entire layout of the camp, as well as the schedule.

sage didn't know what she was gonna use it for, but all she knew was that it was going to be important.

maybe it wasn't, and she was just wrong. sage didn't know what he dad was thinking with this plan, it was basically impossible for one person to take down a call that was going on for years, but if it would make her father proud then sage was going to try.

sage officially wanted to go home, not only had she made no progress but she just sang background for someone who was so obnoxious.

she had totally forgot that she was in fact performing at the campfire jam, but she was singing background for tess with mitchie, ella and peggy.

it was probably the worst thing ever, and then tess was already preparing something to sing for the beach jam, and then for the pajama jam, and i'm all of them she was the only lead singer.

sage was ready to end that girl, because tess was driving her nuts. so if anything, the downfall of the camp was entirely tess's fault.
